I don’t get the reluctance to just give fans what they want.

I found my holy grail thrift find of a box set a few weeks ago, and am working to digitize it for my own collection.

Like yeah, I know there were changes even before the CGI stuff - apparently there were different audio tracks and lines in some theatrical releases? - but there’s enough people who have been pretty vocal about their desire for unaltered versions. I want my original Jabba’s palace scene, I want Han Solo to shoot first, I don’t want Hayden Christiansen force ghost.

I get Lucas is an “auteur” with a vision, but I also want the shit I remember watching as a kid getting hyped for the Phantom Menace.
