No it doesn't. It turns people against you when you act as if it's just an option for everyone.
Why shouldn't be an option for everyone, eventually?
Disabilities exist.
That said, my rural county has this neat shuttle service that people without cars can use to get to their jobs and the grocery store. There's no reason every rural community couldn't have the same thing.
Nobody asks disabled people to ride a bike. Good for that shuttle service you have.
