isnโ€™t 4 fingered slop anymore

[โ€“] frightful_hobgoblin@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

would you rather:

  • build cohesive movements

  • have an internet argument about a cartoon otter

[โ€“] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world -4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

How does the lazily made cartoon otter do anything at all?

So if we say we like the AI slop you'll go fix problems in the world?

We all know you came here to whine about the otter.

We all know what's required to remove fascists from power.

You shouldn't clutch pearls about actual leftists not wanting to give power back to the Neoliberals. Neoliberalism is a dying right wing ideology and we're done pretending rich white Neoliberals who suck rich cock will ever improve the lives of regular people.

  • Critique to build, not tear down
  • Organize, donโ€™t just argue
  • Ego kills movements
  • Division is a weapon used by elites, donโ€™t play along

These ones in particular.

People in this thread slinging around insults trying to upset each others ' egos and start quarrels.

*choose the lesser of two evils, despite the option of not choosing evil always being an option

*keep the Neoliberals and their rich doners in power

*shrug shoulders and make up excuses instead of allowing real change to happen.

Neoliberals have helped push the country right for over 50 years, we are done learning this lesson.

The leftists will not be shamed into letting the Neoliberals keep us down any longer.

This election the Neoliberals can get with the program or get the fuck out of the way

There needs to be a large movement to oppose the neoliberal parties. And that requires avoiding schisms. And starting arguments about every little thing isn't the way to do that.

Communist movements have seized power by building broad movements of national liberation + the proletariat + the peasant class + the semi-proletariat + the petty bourgeoisie.

Communist movements have failed when they let faddists and cranks ventilate their opinions on vaccination, vegetarianism, technology, etc. and derail the movement. Internal discord is the chief enemy.

Socialism is seizing the means of production from the private capitalists. Agreed? If you're on board with that, you're a comrade, even though we may disagree about trivial matters like cartoons.

I'm not sure why you'd expect the anthropomorphized otter to have the correct number of fingers regardless of how it was made.

[โ€“] Squorlple@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

If it was made with care then Iโ€™d expect some thought to be put into it. If it were like the Simpsons or a number of other cartoons for example, wherein a finger is intentionally omitted as an artistic choice, then that would justify a lack of accuracy. The finger count wasnโ€™t even something that I brought up, and I didnโ€™t even look into it in this case until someone else erroneously thought that my gripe was a lack of realism in the message. My gripe is a lack of human in the message, especially when someone wants there to be an imitation of one.

A medium posing as human craft is apathy for the presentation and therein exploitation of the audience. Itโ€™s like those spam letters I get sometimes that are made to look handwritten with a supposedly real humanโ€™s signature but are just factory-made and stamped on with a mechanized print pad and all they want is to solicit something from me via deception.

all they want is to solicit something from me via deception.

What is it trying to deceive you about and solicit from you?
