backup in case your primary instance is down
admin/mod account to separate mod work from normal activity
bot accounts
test accounts
and more...

A legitimate reason might be that you want to talk about things that your employers might not approve of, like your sexuality or your politics. We don't want to get fired because we are are LGBTQIA+ or oppose tyranny.

Currently, reports only go to Mods on the community's instance, so you need a Mod for that.
