I think this is definitely part of some kind of retrenchment initiative: cut back on the imperial overextension, place the regime change machinery under more direct intelligence agency/state department control, and stop wasting resources on secondary fronts and instead focus on the main enemy which is China. However, in the meantime, the regime change apparatus is in considerable chaos during this transition period and a lot of things are coming to light that are helping to clean out some of the US's various tentacles across the world. It is unclear whether the plan will succeed as they envisioned it or whether they have irreparably damaged the entire system with this sudden shock. For now i think anti-imperialists should see it as an opportunity, a temporary weakness that can be taken advantage of, but also staying wary of what the next step will be after they reorganize and recover from this chaotic reboot of the regime change machine.
