Houses or maybe other permanent structures, hotel/motel. Or even a specifically designed building that is reasonably easily convertable to the space needed for the time. A bit like how a Convention centre acts, but on a smaller scale.

I agree we have the same issues in QLD, camps come in, setup shop and then all the houses sit empty and the businesses fail. This should never be allowed except for if the mine is very remote and there is no close town to support, even then with caveats in place.

Well, in times gone by, before we had the ease of access to air transport and a fully transferable workforce, these mines could become the economic basis of a new town. Between that, and farm consolidation its no wonder why we are becoming a vast land with a few intense city congregations. Theres less financial pull to the regions
