As someone who is 34… that’s a longboard, and you should totally do it! Way easier to ride than a skateboard because it has a huge platform to stand on and a big wheelbase. I’ve been longboarding since I was 19ish and still keep it up.

The site I used to buy from in college is still around:

https://www.daddiesboardshop.com/collections/longboard-completes

Those are completes, so they’ll come with everything pre-assembled out of the box. Look for “drop thru” for some boards that are easier to ride because the deck is lower to the ground relative to the wheels.

As someone who is 41 and had skateboarding as a minor hobby growing up, I'd love to revisit it but am terrified that I'd shatter like glass if I even had the slightest sudden unexpected gravitational pull to the earth's floor

Kinda my worry as well. But I no longer care how I look, so going full helmet and pads won't bother me. And I don't really plan on dropping in on half pipes or anything crazy. Spring will tell...

So those are more for getting around, no? When I was a teenage I had one of those, uh the ones for doing tricks, Ollie's and such. I think I wanna get one of those again.
