Every time I make a fruit fly trap it doesn't work. I might be over thinking things but I'd really lokr to catch some with my own traps
How are you making them?
I do apple cider vinegar and water in a narrow necked water bottle with a few drops of dish soap. The smelly malic acid of the vinegar attracts them, the narrow neck makes it hard to fly out and the soap breaks the surface tension of the water so they drown.
Boiling water down the sinks also kills them as they breed in there
I've done apple cider vinegar and oil this time. I did a shallow container this time because none of the traps in tall glasses I made worked.
I might chuck it out and start again with the water, vinegar, and soap. When I've used oil I think I've put too much in and covered up the smell
I accidentally made one, by leaving a little bit of orange juice in my tall glass for a few days ๐ ๐ฌ few days later, plenty of drowned flies in it lol
I have a nasty habit of not finishing my drinks, I always leave a finger or two of liquid. But it worked out this time, because the flies that got into the house got drowned lol
Me too. Usually leave a bit of wine when I go to bed. But somehow by 10am it's gone. I honestly don't know where it goes it's a mystery..
I can hear Jonathan Frakes right now
"Have you ever gone to bed before finishing a drink, only to wake and find it's gone?"
How do you prepare them once you've got em?
Once they've been marinaded, a little salt & pepper and a quick fry. Serve with a crusty bread.
Add deep fried tarantula and you got yourself a decent meal
I haven't caught enough to even think about putting them in something nice
