If a third party candidate and their voters represents a threat to your election bid then here's a wild thought: Maybe you should court that candidate and their supporters, figure out what the key issues are they most care about, and consider adding it to your own platform?

Oh no, silly me: third party candidates are always jokes and illegitimate people not worth giving attention to right up until they become a convenient scape goat for all your own failings.

  • Third party candidates are insignificant jokes that you cannot take seriously
  • Third party candidates are pulling so many voters from us that we will lose the election

Completely coherent. Especially coherent to focus on third party candidates when there's only a few million people who don't vote (just barely over 50% of the voting population)

America is a very democratic country where 80 million people don't vote but both far-right parties fight for the 3 people undecided between both hitlers.
