If the avos were planted as fruits at the beginning of the semester, you've got several years to wait for harvestable fruit. If the trees have fruit on them already, well, the fruit doesn't ripen until removed from or falls off the tree. Ripening then takes up to 60 days and can be longer depending on storage temperature. They might be waiting for the fruit to get bigger before taking them off the tree, though. This might give you something of a timeline.
