I got spoilered ending of Space Marine 2 today and i'm actually glad i dropped it after hour or two.
It's Chaos again, isn't it? I bet it's plans-within-plans Chaos shit.
Of course it's chaos, but it's not even the cringiest part. Actually compared to how absolute trash as enemy Tyranids are in this game, chaos is a huge improvement.
Tyranids just happen to be there, largely unrelated to the 2 cm deep plot.
To be fair, up to the point i played and got bored the plot is nonexistent but the tyranid layer is constantly around 1,5 meter deep everywhere.
I yearn for one day actually interesting 40k plots, which are probably not forthcoming
There are some in books, like "The Infinite and the Divine" but sadly they are bestowed the curse of all books put in the gaming settings: "no changing the setting" so even if you read the above quite fun story about 10000 year spanning rivalry and gigantic and important quest, just from the world-changing plans you already know from the start that they will fail.
