I really think we need to give this thread a different name like The Melbourne Yarn or The Melbourne Chit Chat / Shit Chat. Cmon marketing people what are your thoughts?

[-] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 11 points 1 month ago

Melbourne Shit Chat is brilliant!

[-] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago

It can change with mood, Chit Chat on a good day, Shit Chat for bad, and Shit Shat for the really bad days

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 1 month ago

It's what my friends and I call a catch up.

I don't want anyone to feel like they can't talk serious stuff here.

Interesting. I’m not against it but, the DT name is legendary. Why change?

True. My feelings are that we've moved on from the motherland and could give it its own identity.

Also I'm a pot stirrer.

The People's front of Judea.

The Melbourne Pot Stirring thread!

[-] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 5 points 1 month ago

Fair. I enjoy having my pot stirred now and then.

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

I think we can keep the DT name and have a subtitle too!

[-] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Oh cool, I like subtitles

[-] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Oh cool, I like subtitles

The Melbourne Yarn sounds like either a knitting group or a bunch of boring old men sitting around having painfully slow conversations that go nowhere. Something more active and exciting would be better. Maybe the Melbourne Choose Your Own Adventure thread.

[-] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Stitch & bitch is pretty common in yarn circles

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Ooohh that’s a good one too!

Those things are honestly terrifying to me.

When I was in nepal on a school trip way back, we were going up single track on a cliff face and a whole lot of them were being herded down. they simply don't care if you're in the way, you have to step aside. I was caught on the wrong side of the track (with about 1km drop) and my life flashed before me.

I still get nightmares about that heh.

Um, that's a Highland cow/bull. Not a yak as such.
This is a yak!

[-] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

It's a Melbourne yak, so it should not be surprising that it is not quite authentic.

[-] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Slightly related, but author James Oswald is also a pedigree Highland Cattle farmer. I'm not familiar with his work, his videos just came up in my recommended this morning

G'day knackers. Whadda you reckon?

[-] Catfish@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

My knickers are knackered, how about gnu?

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

I think maybe we can try different ones every now and again.

The Melbourne Bow Wow!

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

That's a good idea

I thought for a minute I was being awarded a pineapple. Must add that to my list of issues with multifocals...
