Pros:

  • kind of a cool synchronicity

  • Easy to remember

Cons:

  • I don't get to have another "celebration" day

  • I'd have to wait a week longer than I really need to

I replayed it today and my word it hits deep for me. It feels more like a spiritual experience to me than a game. I know the meme is that Celeste is the quintessential trans girl game, but to me this goes deeper with no dialogue at all and resonates with my experience. What do y'all think?

Also, don't even try to tell me she's not trans. Non form-fitting dress, blue hair, bangs, she's voice training, and she's clearly struggling with self doubt and trying to put the pieces of her identity together.

hello โค๏ธ

my son is a senior in high school and will be attending prom with his boyfriend in about 3 months. he hasn't decided what exactly he's going to wear, but just in case it's a tux or a suit, I'm trying to get my ducks in a row because idk where to even begin. ๐Ÿคฆ

searching "rent a tux near me" gets me all kinds of cis-man focused stuff, adding "trans man" onto the end didn't get better results. I'm sure there are all kinds of considerations to keep in mind, but idk the first thing about getting a tux for anyone at all, let alone a person with a different body shape than Average Dude.

I might be over-complicating this and worrying too much (haha me? ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™ƒ never!) please let me know if that's the case. it would be a huge relief!

I know we need to start with measurements; I'm fairly confident about taking them, since I've previously successfully measured him, my husband, and myself.

after that, I'm totally lost. his body shape is becoming more blocky and less curvy, but he's still got a little bit of hip that seems like it might be difficult to fit in suit pants. he has binders that he finds comfortable, so I think shirts and jackets might not be too difficult to fit, but heat might be an issue? he gets grumpy when he's too hot, just like his mom ๐Ÿฅฐ

we live in rural Ohio, so I don't feel comfortable taking him to a random rental place; most of the time, people are nice to us, but I don't want to risk it for prom. we can drive about 2 hours to get to Columbus, OH, which has a pretty large queer community and probably has a safer place to go for fitting than anywhere closer.

all of your thoughts, directions, suggestions, advice, encouragement, reprimands, and jokes are welcome cat-trans thank you.

@Imsomking@hexbear.net has gotten a fundraiser set up!!! Before clicking off this post, please read it in its entirety.

  1. She is currently in a lot of danger. You may remember from this post that she was half outed as trans. People around her are suspicious and are looking through her phone. She is terrified of police involvement if they find evidence that she is trans. On top of this, Iraq is going to be bombed again soon, this month.

  2. We don't have a lot of time. Since Trudeau resigned, the new Canadian PM is likely to be Poilievre, who is running on an extremely anti-immigrant policy. She needs to be in Canada before the next election happens, which could be as early as late March. This means we need to raise as much money as we can ASAP.

  3. We're shooting to raise $15,000 by the end of January. She needs this money to make the flight and to pay living expenses once she reaches Canada. Please, please donate if you are at all able. If you cannot donate, please share this fundraiser with people you know who can donate. Share it with your friends, family, on social media, on discord, anywhere.

  4. If you live in Canada, please reach out via DM. She will need additional support once she reaches Canada. We need a network of people to support her. Any help we can get, we need.

Thank you all for reading and for helping. This is incredibly urgent. We appreciate all of your support!!! heart-sickle

Hey all, this is my first post so hello and thank you all! Have been on HRT (estradiol, spiro, progest.) for about 7 months and the entire experience has been in a simple term, life-saving. I wasn't actively sui but I was extremely depressed and probably heading that way. Anyway, on to vulnerability. I noticed a pretty immediate shift in my mood upon starting HRT. A combination of my medication and not feeling so depressed has added much more definition to my emotional life and it has pros and cons. One key thing I noticed was how much more vulnerable I am willing to be in my relationships. I noticed it yesterday when I got into an argument with my partner. I remembered earlier that week how I had related something to them when I was feeling very vulnerable but trusting. The contrast of trust in the argument vs when I was feeling open with him was very jarring and I felt very gross for having let him in at that capacity earlier. I'm not sure if its necessarily a problem but its something that I need to keep in mind as I continue.

Children of Time is a 2015 science fiction novel by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

In the distant future, humanity seeks to create new habitats for itself on distant planets, terraforming them and seeding them with life. Dr. Avrana Kern is heading one such project, orbiting the tentatively named "Kern's World", where the plan is to release monkeys le-monke infected with a nanovirus that will accelerate their evolution. Through an act of sabotage from an anti-technology group that has also destroyed much of Earth, the monkeys are never released, and the virus instead infects a species of spider, Portia labiata. The book follows the evolution of the spiders and their eventual civilisation, as well as a remnant of humanity that fled to Kern's World hoping to find paradise.

also children of ruin and children of memory, the sequels, are really good

Got into it with another leftist that was praising Joti Bror, a British communist TERF piece of shit. Their defense was "you don't have to agree with her on [sic] the trans stuff, and still appreciate her analysis of other things."

No motherfucker, I can get better analysis from people who don't invalidate my or my comrades identities. I don't have to listen to her for shit, fuck off with that. TERFism breeds fascism every fucking time.

Goddamnit.

Anyways yeah I just wanted a space to vent. Probably won't reply or anything.

Transgender Unity Coalition is a US-based transgender advocacy non-profit looking to expand! Hi, I'm Bree, the founder and executive director of TUC. We have been around for just a few months now, but we have gotten a lot done in this short amount of time! From lobbying (successfully) for protection-based laws, to holding multi-hundred attendee irl community events, and more. We have so many services and offerings to the public that I can't squeeze them all into one post.

But I bet you haven't heard of us before, and that's because we are super new. We only have one state chapter in Michigan right now, a true purple state, and we are looking to expand into red states that need our help the most. Our mission is this: empower the transgender community across America. It always has been, even before Trump won the recent election. We will not stop fighting, but we need your help and we need it right now.

We are 100% volunteer-driven from the top down. We have a team of over 40 right now, but we need at least 2,000 strong, or about what we have now in every U.S. state. It sounds ambitious, but keep in mind that with over 2.2 million Americans (minimum) alone belong to our community, 2,000 to represent that number isn't anywhere close, so in any small way, even just occassionally, we can absolutely use your help.

I will also throw in there that our team embraces a work-from-home model, and our behind-the-scenes planning primarily operates through Discord, which has given us a strong sense of culture and community through this digital platform. Our model has proven successful through pass coordination efforts of ours, and we hope to implement it as we continue.

tl;dr Join our team. Please give us a chance, because we are all in this together. You can reach out via email at unity@transunitycoalition.org with any questions, or if you want to meet me personally to learn more and see that this is real, schedule something at https://calendly.com/bree-at-tuc and I'll give you that time. It is of my own personal opinion that the time is right now to make a stand and solidify who we are into human history.

Here's to a new year! Here's my first mega try (also first time posting in a while due to reasons) but heya! Admittedly struggled a fair bit with self doubt and anxiety on this one as put it off for a while/other things caught up with me but I figure I'll be glad I did it once I've done it. It's kinda being done last minute though, so admittedly there's that...

I'd been intending to make the mega about something else originally when I signed up, but that would require more time on my part (and I just binge read this recently, so it all works out). Anyways, my subject of the week is The Summer Hikaru Died; it's a queer (BL) horror manga which is currently also scheduled for anime release next year (2025).

Content warnings naturally follow and further details will be spoilered.

CONTENT WARNINGSGrief, body horror and (very debatably IMO) mild gore, supernatural horror (ghosts/"impurities", otherworldly entities), death I suppose though that one's a given

PremiseThe titular Hikaru went for a walk in the woods, died, and something came back wearing his body, something that doesn't quite know how to be human or mortal; "Hikaru" returned, to ensure that his best friend, Yoshiki, would not be lonely. Romantic tension (and tension of a less pleasant kind) ensues.

The plot/things I like about it thus far (light spoilers)Yoshiki and "Hikaru" have an absolutely great dynamic- their relationship may not be fully healthy, but their intentions seem to both be in the right place, as are their deep feelings (Yoshiki's for Hikaru and increasingly for "Hikaru," and Hikaru and "Hikaru's" own true feelings) and honesty in this regard, despite the latter "Hikaru" being effectively an imposter of sorts. (it's complicated, but these are increasingly distinguished separately and I really like that process as well)

"Hikaru" is, while not quite a blank slate, extremely new to the concept of even just "being" in the sense that mortal creatures and individual organisms(?) do. They've had to learn (and Yoshiki has had to confront them about) the value and significance of life and death; they've increasingly established boundaries, and they approach the world with a liveliness and curiousity that is really cute (the original Hikaru was also lively FWIW, but "Hikaru" is experiencing everything anew even if they retain the memories).

Yoshiki, on the other hand, is both grappling with his grief and loss of Hikaru, while finding comfort (and discomfort alike) in his imposter, and in guiding them through a new world or state of being. He's finding his resolve and moral/ethical backbone interacting with "Hikaru" (very blue-and-orange morality dynamics, though they're learning), he's experiencing what could be described as a rocky but determined romance and queer experimentation at the same time "Hikaru" is being introduced to notions of attraction and desire (beyond instinctual desire to consume).

Their pairing in so many ways should not work (or rather would be usually destined for a tragic end). From the start, there have been several points where by all means it should have met such an end. But their determination and willingness to meet the other where they're at and gradually be understanding with the other is both fascinating and something I'd feel optimistic for (and interested in seeing play out further).

Anyways, I should cut myself short at this (and make sure to have something properly written beforehand for next time). But anyways, thus far it's a strong recommend (if you feel alright with the content warnings) from me.

First and foremost: I am not a truscum, transmedicalist, whatever. I believe every trans person should have access to medical aid they need (HRT, surgery, etc.). I believe in xenogenders and use neopronouns for people who use them. I myself am agender.

Apparently I was banned 9 months ago. I never made a truscum comment. I just realized that my comments weren't passed on, and didn't federate. I feel a bit sad of being disconnected from a part of the community on the fediverse.

I've been out to my friends for years but I had fears/brainworms about presenting that way at work. As a result, I kept everyone at arms length and was generally pretty cold and closed off to everyone, which made me a shitty communist. But I finally managed to overcome that and find a new job (just some temp warehouse work) with my preferred name and presentation, which I just started today!

So I come in with a batch of new hires, ready to turn over a new leaf and start socializing, and wouldn't you know it, there's a guy awkwardly hovering around me! Perfect! I know awkward hovering because I'm an awkward hoverer myself, clearly, he wants to be friends but is too shy - so I introduce myself, and we get assigned to similar areas and sit together on breaks. "Making friends is so much easier as a woman!" I thought, a fool.

This guy starts simping hard. Starts asking if I have a boyfriend, takes a big interest in all my hobbies, stuff like that, but the big kicker was he'd been talking about how much he'd prefer being on a different shift so I suggested he ask someone about it but then he's like, "But then I wouldn't get to see you." BRO. catgirl-disgust

Also, he's 19, and I'm in my 30's. Ew libertarian-alertcringe

I'm not sure if he's aware I'm trans or not, I usually assume people can tell but idk and it's not on some people's radar. Not sure which is worse.

Overall, I'm still happy about being able to present the way I want at work and I've been unemployed for a while so I'm glad to be making money and the job's not too hard. But as far as workplace socializing, I kinda feel like I just traded one problem for another oooaaaaaaauhhh
