Location: United Kingdom, Ireland Note that the app isn't OS.

Curve is a Google wallet replacement app that consolidates multiple bank cards into a single smart card and digital wallet, making it easier to manage your finances. Here are some key points:

PRO:

  1. Curve allows you to link multiple debit and credit cards to one Curve card, simplifying your wallet and making it easier to switch between accounts.
  2. The app claim to offer robust security features, including instant card freezing, transaction notifications, and the ability to set spending limits.
  3. Curve provides cashback and rewards on purchases, which can add up over time and provide extra value.
  4. The app is intuitive and easy to navigate, with clear transaction histories and spending insights.
  5. Go Back in Time: A unique feature that lets you switch the card used for a transaction after the purchase, providing flexibility and control.

CONS:

  1. While the basic version is free, some premium features come with a subscription fee.
  2. Curve is not available in all countries, however, should be available in all EU and the UK.
  3. Isn't an Open Source app and very likely they will sell your transactions history to other company (like google)

I lost some multiplayer games because of their anti-cheat, but that "forced" me to go through my backlog (including family-shared games), so I don't mind after all.

tl;dr: made a excel file for calculating charging time of Opel Corsa F e Cars since there is no proper done limiter by the manufacturer. Turned it into a php file, so you can selfhost it for ease of use.

Have a look at the two pics to generate a view of what it would look like.

I know probably nobody will care about this topic and it seems offtopic for this community but this is the closest community I could find and I wanted to try to remove some inconveniance for some people.

Pic of it before Calcing: https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/dd3724e4-6729-4188-9e24-d0c5a737ab48.png

Pic of it when clicking Calculate: https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/59a50f0a-b2e5-432b-ba25-7de9731332f5.png

LOOONG Version:

For those wondering and even caring about this nieche topic: Some PSA based cars - like the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa F e (e - electric) do not have a charging limiter built in.

Just like your Phone you should charge only until 80%.

A workaround (for Opel) is, that when charging via AC you can tell the car to stop charging right now but start again later.

Now you could calc out at what time in the night your car should start chargin to get to 80% by leaving the house.

Doing such is also not that conveniant.

To make this thing more easy - I've made myself a simple excel sheet that calcs all those things.

Since I hate Spreadsheets and wanted my partner to also benefit from it without having to have this stupid file on their phone I let ChatGPT transfer my calculus into one done in PHP. Its a simple transfer of math operations and I've checked - it didnt fuck up the calculations.

Soooo to the point: I've got a php file for ya'll that you can put on a dummy webserver driving php wich will enable you to do those calcs in a glance.

I've let it define some standard-values that you can edit:

  • Wanted charging State: 80%
  • Battery MAX Capaticy (for my case 52KWH but yours might differ, since the changable value)
  • ChargingPower: 1,8KW (when charging via normal power-outlets with the default Opel-Charger - and not any 11KW Charger) -- Again Value is chagnabel
  • Loss of load (apparrently some cars are not that great at 1-Phase Charging -- looking at you Renault Zoe... (24% Loss)) -- Also changable.

php file contents following in the comments (If it will allow me to post comments of such length. If not, just hit me up with a DM. I'll figure out a way if anyone actually wants it ^^)

As we all know, the EU loves regulation, sometimes even overregulation. One area where I feel that regulation would help is computer hardware sale. When I want to buy a laptop and I visit the online retailers, normally 80% of the laptops come with Windows, 10% Linux and 10% Freedos or without any. I would very much welcome if the EU made it mandatory for manufaturers to offer the choice of OS when buying a new laptop. Just like you chose the color, how much RAM you wanted, SSD size, you could also chose what operating system you want it with. As part of that, manufacturers would be obliged to send a fix donation after every sold piece to the corresponding Linux distro team, which would help the chronic underfunding issue. Not sure how much the manufacturers pay for Windowsfor the license, but theoretically the Linux equivalent machine should be cheaper even after the donation. Any views are welcome.

It's now been six weeks since I started writing thoseย Buy Europeanย bulletins. And now,ย withย Meta's frankly infantile reactionย to the fine issued by the European Commission over their breaching of the Digital Markets Act, the time has come to tackle their services directly. Today, weโ€™re learning how to leave Meta, how to leave Facebook, how to leave Instagram, and ultimately, how to leave a toxic relationship that, for many, has brought nothing but misery andย decay.

Colleagues. I don't feel like having to publish 20 disclaimers here to clarify exactly what I mean. People who want to understand my message will understand them. You should not look for too many "double-bottoms" or "hidden messages" in them. Do you have a problem with the "superficiality" of my post.... so be it.

A Finnish photographer calls out the lies, greedflation and total disrespect from Adobe.

In 2009, the CEO of Adobe was paid $5 million dollars :

Today - 15 years later - the CEO of Adobe is paid $55 million dollars :

And itโ€™s the SAME guy !! ๐Ÿ™ƒ.

For him, this is all a game. "Stupid peasants don't protest. They are dumb cows to milk. The board members are my friends. How high can my score go ? 70? 80 million?"

We've all already talked about switching away from google/apple maps to something like openstreetmaps, mapy, tomtom amigo, etc. But all of these services use openstreetmaps (UK non-profit) as a source and they still miss a lot of local data even for bigger cities!

If you have some spare time, think about adding a bit of data to the map with your local knowledge. There's a lot of business data missing that is on google maps like websites, phone numbers and opening hours but also stuff like parking lots and whether they're publicly accessible and free or not. Adding these makes the competition of ALL services using OSM as a source better.

I also use the mobile app https://streetcomplete.app/ and https://every-door.app/ to add data while on my walks, these make my walks more engaging and I actually take longer ones + see new places because of it. Streetcomplete also has a focus on important and easy to collect data with their default filters, and you can choose what you want to contribute.

If you really want to get into the thick of it and contribute more than just simple data you can always check out https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/How_to_contribute and see in which of the many ways you can contribute!
