It's about time.

The blatant blackmail with the tariffs is really just one of many things that are simply intolerable, such as the disgusting Nazi stuff, the harassment at the borders, the support for our enemies, the ongoing industrial espionage, the collection of citizens' data, the unscrupulous exploitation of monopolies and so on and so forth.

In short, there are more than enough reasons to stop buying US products once and for all.

and the open attempt to subvert our own democracies too.

To be honest it makes a bit more sense to me now... I used to have this nagging thought in my head: "ok, yeah... Russia is funding all the social disinformation campaigns and more, but Facebook alone is worth more than Russia's GDP and Zuckerberg is powerless to stop them?"

Narrator voice: "they weren't trying to stop them"

Yes, the US may have been our military ally until recently, but on all other levels they actually have been hostile towards Europe for a long time.

Just as you say, you only ever hear in the media about what the Russians or the Chinese are doing that's bad, but they always fail to mention that the USA is probably even worse. Just one example of many is that the NSA demonstrably spied on the former German Chancellor - and that was a long time ago. And still: some of our own politicians are now even considering to introduce Palantir (US surveillance software) in Europe. How this is possible is completely beyond me.

I only wish it was easier to identify the US products. I have replaced about 80-90% of the household spending that went to the US to EU products.

No more Netflix, HBO, YouTube premium, or similar. No more groceries with a US parent company or raw ingredients from the US.

Replaced most apps.

I think I have moved about 200-300$ a month of spending. I still have to replace some pet food, for example.

But there is still something here and there, and it's hard to avoid it without help. I can't spend all my time on this.

An app like that is a must have.

Available as a website or Android app.

"Made O'Meter is the original boycott app developed in Denmark to support Europe, Canada and our friends. It's free and ad-free,"

I wish Danish supermarkets already offered more local alternatives to FMCG, but yea, definitely in for it.

Why wait? You still want to willingly give money to a hostile nation?

[โ€“] Szewek@lemm.ee 1 points 6 days ago

Yeah. I generally hope that the situation will move the consumer choices beyond: "I chose product A over product B because it was 0.1โ‚ฌ cheaper, and I do not care about all the rest." or "I chose product A because everybody talks about it, I haven't heard about product B, who cares about them?". Like everybody talks about McDonalds, everybody knows it tastes awful, has awful nutritional value, and awful practices along the supply chain. And yes, it is c h e a p.
