@pk84@tooter.social nice sound! I like it!
@zirias@snac.bsd.cafe @modev@snac.bsd.cafe Entire instances can be blocked using the command line, but they're using many (abandoned? loosely moderated?) instances.
We can also set the "drop posts from accounts created less than X seconds ago". We could set a 86400 seconds - but we could lose new users, posting their introductions.
For now, I've blocked those instances you pointed out
@ivan@tomica.social I agree.
@justine@bsd.cafe @normis@s.dodies.lv Interesting. I'll try to test it further
@normis@s.dodies.lv @justine@bsd.cafe yes, I can confirm that Mastodon seems to stick with the @ mention, and fails to always understand when this is missing. Tusky is adding it itself, so using Tusky with snac will produce a Mastodon-like behavior
@justine@bsd.cafe @grunfink@comam.es I'm using the web interface, Enafore and Tusky, depending on my workstation/task.
Spinning your own instance can be a nice experience and I'd normally encourage it but I don't want you to abandon the BSD Cafe 😉
Joking, of course. Running snac on the BSDs is a joy. And when the move (both in and out) will be implemented, I'm expecting many more users trying snac
@justine@bsd.cafe It's simple, almost no dependencies, you can host it everywhere.
But the experience isn't as complete or "polished" as with Mastodon.
If you want to, I can create you a test account on https://snac.bsd.cafe so you can try it yourself
@inviridi@metalhead.club thanks!
@miki@dragonscave.space the same could happen if the X accounts gets hacked. Or the website. Having multiple communication channels is the key to avoid those kinds of problems.
Monoculture is always a problem.
@ioletsgo @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social KDE is a great choice - and has always been, IMHO.
FreeBSD support is good, so you're not forced to use Linux to enjoy it.
@matuzalem@bsd.cafe thank you!
