ok I've finally swallowed my pride and decided to just ask here: how do you create line breaks on Lemmy?? I feel like I've tried everything

It's truly excellent, I'd say start with their season on Cuba. I really love how they juxtapose all their information with real media soundbites from the time. It's enough to permanently disillusion one of the concept of the fReE pREss; privately owned media doesn't need capitalist governments to directly tell them what to say and print because their interests are those of capital so their goals align anyways (though sometimes they WILL just tell them what to do).

I'd second this, Pick Me Up I'm Scared and Blowback are excellent for learning actual history which is essential, not optional, for understanding the current historical moment.

The ever-growing relevance and demand for infosec was partly why I chose to specialize in it 3 years ago when I was deciding to go to school. It was seen as a very safe investment, the most economic option over choosing environmental sciences and everybody told me as much. There are zero entry-level positions basically anywhere and now we're heading into a mega recession. And the same tech capitalists are using to fuck us all is also changing the threat landscape meaning there's plenty of actual work to be done. Great example of how capitalist economies are decoupled from where actual work and productivity needs to be done. There are problems and vulnerabilities at every level of our societies but if nobody can get rich quickly by resolving them, we just all have to go fuck ourselves. Guess I'll learn to weld or something??? Oh wait even the TRADES are dead lol nevermind.

I would kill to even HAVE a job to lose (one that isn't frying chicken I mean). It'll be a year since I finished my post-grad in infosec last year and the job outlook is SO incredibly shitty I'm having to decide by year's end to start over in a totally new career path.
If this is what it looks like before the bubble pops I don't want to be around to see what's it like after.

bro's funeral is gonna look like Alexander The Great's

I agree with all of this. I admit this was kinda a vent post on my part and not totally materially grounded and was actually gonna delete it. I guess it just frustrates me how many people base their vision of the future on a romantic, pop culture ideal of a Final Conflict where elections are cancelled and other nazi ww2 tropes when the reality will probably be that all elected capitalist officials, regardless of party, work in lockstep to keep the working class in their place. I think we agree that most people ARE good and do just want to live in peace, they're just forming a flawed model of the future using a flawed model of the past (fed to them by capitalist media).

You could just read the post and then argue against it's points using your own arguments backed up by facts. If it's bullshit then it should be easy to refute.
