That is honestly like 90% of the reason I have stuck around, the community here is reminiscent of early reddit (or rather when I joined circa like 2011). But, yeah I totally appreciate that people enjoy it and I'm happy they do, I just really don't agree with most their points.

Based on the sentiment I see online, my hot take is that Deep Rock Galactic is way over-hyped and is actually pretty shallow. It's a fine turn your brain off game, but I don't think it's as great as people make it out to be.

I wish my wife didn't have some gnarly arachnophobia. The "spiders are beneficial" argument doesn't work :(

I'm fixing it by going to therapy and am learning avenues to move forward happy. I would recommend you do the same even if you don't think you have something mentally wrong, your happiness is important and thoughts like these can spiral out of control without you realizing it.

Yeah honestly I'm not surprised, they can probably use their piles of cash to wipe away their tears. I work for a very large company as an SDE and when asked about how I feel about the manager track, I am met with awkward silence when I say I absolutely do not want that path. My manager probably doesn't make a ton more than me, but they work at least 2x the hours with way more stress. Not worth it. These people chose these lives.

I like to play it in bed before sleeping, or lay on the couch and play either on the deck itself, or docked on the TV. The main reason I wasn't using a lot of consoles was more just having to purchase games twice / lack of cross platform cloud saves. The deck made that way better.

Isn't this part of the plot of Snowpiercer? At least the movie.

I might be in the minority here (also maybe I don't want "DAE" questions coming either..), but it'd be nice if the political discussions stayed in their respective communities. It's important, but it was getting to the point where EVERY thread would deviate into childlike insults at the political level.

I'm excited to be here since it feels like the old reddit community, which I missed over time. I'm just kind of tired of what reddit become as a platform and as a community. It was so nice early on, but as it gained popularity just became more toxic in various ways.

absolutely wild, was going to (naively) give it a go, but I work on telemetry for a big platform and cannot in good faith use this product.

was fucking hot in western WA yesterday, my first year gardening and have had some plants bolt :(

edit: I shouldn't have used the term bolt cause even I didn't know what that meant before this season, it just means that a lot of my plants flowered due to stress from the heat, which often makes things like kale bitter, or spinach tough. In my case it was bok choy, and just now cilantro, but that was probably more from me planting late.
