Insomniac, the dev team behind the wildly successful Spider-Man games just had a leak. In the leak, it's discovered that they were strong-armed by Sony (who owns Insomniac) to downsize staff despite exceeding sales targets and hitting goals. They needed to downsize to help balance Sony's books, who have acquired a slew of failing or underperforming studios.

Sony owns Studio A, and Studio B. Studio B have underperformed for the last few years, whilst Studio A has outperformed their targets. Because of the shortcomings in Studio B, Sony are now out of pocket, even accounting for the earnings of Studio A. Studio A are forced to eliminate staff roles to make up for Studio B's mismanagement. A well oiled and well performing Studio have to butcher their teams to balance their parent entity's books. It's so fucking short sighted and stupid.

This isn't just a Sony/Insomniac issue either, I guarantee this goes on throughout the industry whenever there's a parent company. It's just how it will always be in those circumstances.

I tend to be pretty pessimistic about these cases. Even if the UK Govt win, Google won't change anything, or if they do the change will be subtle enough to not have any impact

Thing is, Trump didn't actually have a vision. He didn't think he was going to win, and he was using the whole election as a way to enrich himself. There is no Trump vision, he plans nothing.

I enjoyed Frasier, but not because of Frasier himself. I really enjoyed seeing the interaction between him and his brother Niles, along with Roz, Daphne etc.

So if this is just a show about Frasier, then I'm out.

Nobody has trust in our government. The way they've treated immigrants (both legal and otherwise) is abhorrent. I'm not surprised that nobody wants to come here.

Yeah I agree that's rough, and probably an unexpected interaction. That being said, other than that, I've played pretty much all Larian Games (even Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga) and I've never felt like the game is working against me, but I have felt like the game is of punishing difficulty in some unexpected ways. When you make a game with so many permutations, there are bound to be issues with some of the edge cases. Not defending them, I'm happy you shared a legitimate complaint, unlike the OP review which isn't a legitimate complaint, but is clearly just salt.

Amazing!

Sidenote though, unless you're both in the same room, it doesn't show the other player your sex scene if I recall correctly. Or maybe that's just a setting?

Holy shit, I forgot this channel existed, I loved Primitive Technology a few years ago. Thanks for the reminder!

Welsh here. Not everyone speaks it, but that's because the English (even as late at the 1950's) used the school system to literally beat it out of us (look up the Welsh Not). Even with that concerted effort to force the language out, it's growing again after a few generations have passed. Being from the south, I know relatively few people who speak it fluently, but I know exactly 0 people who would actually want it abolished.

Same as Elden Ring, lots of developers are pushing back against a development studio who did everything right, because they're not able to do the same in their studios

The major information that you can take away from this whole case, is just how much Call of Duty means to Sony, and gaming in general. Some stats came out that there were a good number of people who only play Call of Duty. I mean they own a PS5 and the only game they own and play is Call of Duty. For Sony, it's a potential loss of a significant portion of their customer base.

Sync for Reddit was one of the best Reddit apps out there, I used it exclusively for years, I can't wait until Sync for Lemmy releases
