When we import food/drug manufacturing equipment we often accept American certifications as compliant with Canadian standards. If a company can say they are compliant FDA or NSF while facing no risk of facing an actual inspection/audit then we may have to exercise more scrutiny ourselves.

If you sincerely can't keep track of an acronym like LGBTQIA2S, I totally understand. I find it helpful to use people with minority "Sexual Orientations and Gender Identites" (SOGI). You could say

people with minority SOGIs

Or

SOGI minorities

Or

SOGIm

It's not a super widespread abbreviation, so I'd recommend spelling it initially as I did in my first paragraph. I don't think it's best practice to say "SOGIs" Because everyone has a SOGI and typically we're trying to talk specifically about those that face(d) disenfranchisement and bigoted violence.

If you're not sincerely struggling with the acronym, and enjoy trivializing people for fun, I hope you think of me everything you stub your toe.

I saw a quote in the newspaper this morning:

We were losing hundreds of billions of dollars with China now we're essentially not doing business with China. Therefore, we're saving hundreds of billions of dollars. Very simple.

It's just so incredibly wrong and stupid.

I'm not much of a cyclist, but I sorta figure that that if you're not sure what to upgrade on the your bike, it's probably the rider. Improve your fitness, improve your knowledge etc.

Isn't the only way this can happen is if the government is trying to overrule the charter of rights and freedoms?

Yes thank goodness we have Mark Carney, he's definitely not interested in maintaining the status quo. I expect nothing less than radical leftist reform with a central banker at the helm.

FPTP means that many votes have negligible impact, so it's understandable why some don't bother.

I'm not saying their philosophy/theory doesn't apply, I'm just saying that what the word "democracy" meant to them is pretty irrelevant in a modern context. I wouldn't call apartheid South Africa a democracy, would you?

Yeah words are a cultural construct, we're speaking modern English so I don't really care a ton about the word choices of philosophers 2500 years ago speaking a different language.

We should definitely make sure that our society provides rights for all, and work towards a truly representative democracy.

I think things have definitely changed since 1964.

Yeah 100 years seems like a good guess. Basically the aftermath of ww1.
