I know the bibliogram frontend was run into the ground by IG fuckery, but isn't there another in use by LibRedirect now?

I for one welcome a return of our Paternoster Row overlords.

I'm kinda excited about this. Wonder if he's actually doing the christmas episode as has been rumoured? Either way it'll be good to see Moffat back!

So I'm no fan of cryptocurrencies, and I'm dismayed at how many crypto wallet crap apps are in the main F-droid repo. Between the environmental and social effects of cryptocurrency, I think it at least would warrant an antifeature flag.

I've looked in vain for apps that allow me to at least filter out keywords or categories that I don't care about in the first place, but no luck.

Is there a general purpose repo with regular updates that also won't promote cryptocurrency by hosting apps for that purpose?

Oh, I agree. What the production pulled off with tighter and tighter budgets is impressive. The Ark in space bubblewrap monster is phenomenal 😂

I've become quite fond of Patrick Troughton's Doctor as well, and I see some of the same quirkiness in his performance as in Tom Baker's. The Second Doctor with Jamie is as memorable as Four with Sarah Jane, just a pity so many episodes were junked.

NuWhovian here. It took me a while to watch Classic, and between the pacing and missing episodes the early Doctors were tough going.

Then the Third Doctor regenerates into this tall, shock-haired eccentric, and it just... clicked. Tom Baker was peak Classic Who, he is magnetic to watch. I can definitely understand why his version remains iconic.

Happy birthday, good sir!

"After one season" — we already saw set photos of her into season 15 (or 2 , into 2025 anyway), so it seems its more organic than that. Which I personally like apart from the fact that it means the Ruby question will probably be resolved at the same time.

the whole point of the trolley problem is that there isn’t any single “correct” answer.

Yeah, this exactly. However, the nature of fandoms and especially online fan communities means that rather considering the question bilaterally, people will argue for decades and factions will form 🤷

This seems to be a different subject, or you're just making up new criteria on the fly 😂

Firefox has finally opened up their larger add-on repo on Android. It seems to be slow going(?) but syncing extensions across desktop and mobile should eventually be possible.

Shortcuts — idk but probably not.

Ah yes, bazarr could be a workaround. Another incitement to get my *arr box set up again!

Use Firefox with a Mozilla account, sync bookmarks between browsers.

Since you already rejected xbrowsersync, I'm guessing that's not the answer you want but honestly, who needs a web client if you're syncing right into your browser?

I'm not a fan of the turns Open Subtitles has made toward monetisation, ad injection etc. — particularly not considering the unpaid volunteer work that has gone into their offerings. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was their "AI" subtitles, though.

I don't know if they sincerely think what they're doing is related to AI, the results I've had the misfortune of downloading was subpar speech-to-text gibberish. And from what I can tell they're even charging for generating those.

So, as I ask in the title, what alternatives to Open Subtitles are currently available for Kodi? I've used Subscene in the past but the add-on stopped working — or maybe I just need to look into the settings again?

The exact domain name I was unconsciously quoting 😂

Apologies if this is the wrong sub for instance downtime alerts. Can't find any means of contacting the admin through other channels, unfortunately.

The Leminal Space admin gave notice over the weekend that there would be some maintenance, and since then the site has thrown errors when I check in. The status page shows all systems operational, though.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I can't access from the Eternity app either. I've cleared my browser cache and site data too, I still get the error message:

There was an error on the server. Try refreshing your browser. If that doesn't work, come back at a later time. If the problem persists, you can seek help in the Lemmy support community or Lemmy Matrix room.

Agreed, Kissane and Kazemi are community forces to be reckoned with in this context. Their research into governance has been funded for at least the first half of 2024.
