Is it a bad sign if a brand new hard drive makes a lot of noise but otherwise functions fine? in c/datahoarder@selfhosted.forum

The one I got is making a lot of loud clacking noises any time the drive is accessed. It is far beyond what I would consider to be a "noisy" drive in general. I'm returning it tomorrow.

Mine came in late last week. I hooked it up yesterday, and it is making an incessant clacking noise, so I'm returning it.
