In case people here haven’t come across it before, the brilliant and prolific scatterArchive label run by Liam Stefani puts out a large number of fantastic contemporary and archival improvised music releases online (via Bandcamp). I don’t run the label - I just think what they do is amazing.

This is their roster for August 2026, and everything is pay what you can afford:

>Monday 03 August
Matt Nelson
'At Home and Not'

solo prepared double bass improv from Knoxville, TN

>Friday 07 August [#bandcampfriday]
MADLI’S MUMS [Susanna Ferrar, Sylvia Hallett, Maggie Nicols, Julie Tippetts]
'MADLI'S MUMS 30-03-87'

archival studio recordings rescued from oblivion by this incredible improvising quartet - voices and violins

>Monday 10 August
Sylvia Hallett & Hello Spiral
'Slow Spinning'

recent live duo improv from Joe Baldwin and Sylvia Hallett

> Friday 14 August
Adam Bohman, Danny Kamins, Adrian Northover
'Magenta Manifesto'

London session of visiting US saxophonist Danny in trio with Adrian and Adam

>Monday 17 August
Mario Gabola & Marco Pezzenati
'Alto Fragile'

excellent extended technique improv by this Italian sax/vibraphone duo

>Monday 24 August
Bernhard Hadriga & Aurel Violas
'what happened in the hayloft'

residency recorded guitar/drums duo from these French/Austrian improvisers

Amazing!

Which one is the drawing?

Your kindness and your care for this little one are so powerful. I’ll keep everything crossed that she recovers for both of your sakes.

This is a beautiful example of why I still have hope for the human race: that we can give a love like this in the face of, and maybe even because of, adversity. Thank you for doing what you’re doing.

She is a poser . . . but I love her so much 💚🤍🖤

What a lovely thing you did. I know that stressful feeling of looking for a lost cat, too.

You’ve made their lives, particularly the son’s, infinitely better.

A cat who’s second only to this cat! Big Miles fan here.

The emperor of dreams (scribe.disroot.org)

“Bow down: I am the emperor of dreams;
I crown me with the million-colored sun.
Of secret worlds incredible”

I’m so sorry for your loss, but what a beautiful and insightful way to think about all of this, about the isolation of our own existences after they’re gone.

I still feel the gravitational pull of our own passed cats, the density of the ongoing grief, even after years and years of their absence.

What a great story, and it sounds like the bike has gone to a very appreciative cyclist! Beautiful machine.

These two are adorable!
