I don't think that's true. I'm pretty certain they simply hop on a torrent client with an illegal torrent for their movie and record the IP addresses they see seeding and leeching. Then simply compel the responsible ISP to reveal which of their customers currently has that IP leased.

Doesn't this just mean they'll make their bot accounts under a more organic/random timeline instead of linearly? The only way it seems you identified it is by the linear nature of the signups.

An actual ecosystem would keep the tick population down though, but also if you don't have deer regularly roaming through your front yard you should be fine too

How did you even come to that opinion unless you're actively living in China? Actually even that doesn't make sense, if you lived in China you would quite literally be blocked from sites like this, and you would get a police visit if you tried.

I have a hard time believing that this announcement is just a straight up lie. If they don't have an actual working prototype, regardless of scale costs that they may be ignoring, wouldn't they be open to a stakeholder suit for misleading the investors?

I got banned for wrong-think (essentially talking back to a sub mod) and it greatly improved my mental health not being able to call out the absolutely driveling imbeciles that populate reddit. It just made me not care anymore.

And yes reddit admins will ban you if you respond to sub mods to complain

The Lyubchyks estimate that the levelised cost of energy – the average net present cost of electricity generation for a generator over its lifetime – from these devices will indeed be high at first, but by moving into mass production..

So next to the fact that these nanotubes will clog with bacteria/particles from the air, and that they'd likely solve it with another device that completely purifies and pushes the air, I'm not hopeful.

Seems pretty hyperbolic. I joined through my insta out of curiosity and I saw like half my friends posting stuff already, saying hi or an update about their life. And all the meme accounts I follow were already posting shit ofc. I'm sure a significant fraction of Lemmy's interactions are based around meme posts, so we're doing the same thing they are. That's just how humans like existing on the internet.

For the record I'm anti Facebook, but you can't get around the fact that almost all your friends and everyone you see walking around likely has an Instagram account. It's just a given and I feel like people here hate acknowledging that.

I think those users who live under oppressive governments should be used to using tools like Tor and accounts with a proton email to interact on the internet.
