Signing up through Lemmy.org reminds me of the old days of reddit. No email required. A VPN and a disposable account that you discard after a couple of weeks? All of a sudden I'm interacting again instead of just lurking.

Have you tried Mastodon? It's more like a replacement for twitter but there's definitely accounts you can follow that just do memes, photography, muppet gifs, etc... You can certainly fill a feed with that there.
