7zip doesn't have a builtin gui on Linux. Your file manager's "compress" and "extract" functions should be able to utilize it as needed. Only power users need all the bits and dials beyond that, and they can use the terminal to harness all the power of the 7z
command.

You're sorta one of the "[un]lucky 10000" today. Basically everyone is constantly on the edge of losing all their digital stuff and most people don't even know it. You might take this as a warning to do better in the future, but even there most people would fail, I'd say.
