It doesn't help people across our nearest cultural neighbors have spent the entire time we've existed telling us we have no real culture and are just less savage than the other brutes outside Western Europe. My view is biased by the sheer number of arrogant Euros I've met though.

To be fair, the last time Germany did that it helped pull the majority of the planet into a very bad time and we as a species picked up new forms of trauma. I'd get a bit twitchy too, but your point is valid

Star Trek tries to avoid using fully sapient AI, in fact it's illegal for fully integrated ship components to be sapient in Starfleet ships. It's why the ships computer can solve nearly any problem you give it, but it can't give you anything unless you ask the correct question.

Just for the record I agree with you, but the opposite of that final question is true, why shouldn't she be a white dude, or a PoC man? Ranching/farming isn't a job that requires a specific gender or sex.
