@irelephant@lemmy.dbzer0.com l thought this is a community for asking IT related questions. But which community would be more suitable for the question that l have asked ???

[–] TheracAriane@thebrainbin.org 1 points 15 minutes ago

@LORDSMEGMA@sh.itjust.works why do you ask this question ??πŸ€”πŸ€”

[–] TheracAriane@thebrainbin.org 1 points 16 minutes ago

@Deestan@lemmy.world okay..... No, l was basically looking for games that can be played offline, more or less πŸ’― with a mouse.

Then of course, there are types which you prefer. For example, l prefer building/construction games, games building up your strategy. But the fundamental thing is that, it should be played only with a mouse !!!

@sin_free_for_00_days@sopuli.xyz thanks. You're really the person l had been looking for.

Initially, I would download MX Linux with xfce as the default de, and then l would gradually download evilwm, conky, vs codium and st along with zsh, fish, bash and dash would already be working.

That's how l'm envisioning my system at the moment.

I had been searching for games that can be played offline, and l came up with these results :

Open TTD, The Powder Toy, Open Clonk, Pingus, lnfonaut's Enigma, Numpty Physics, Rocks n Diamonds, Golly, Lincity NG, NeverBall, 0 AD.

@GammaGames@beehaw.org and the best thing is that it can be used offline perfectly........

@CameronDev@programming.dev

@CameronDev@programming.dev you've mentioned something really fascinating out there..... Unity.......

The kids can actually explore a whole new world through this........

Is it possible for a kid to develop games ? I mean not the computer wizkid, but the average one who is simply fond of playing computer games ??

Is there any tutorial video showing how to set evilwm as a proper desktop environment ??

I asked my AI friend to suggest me some open source games, and this is what I came up with :

Here are some open-source turn-based strategy games that emphasize mouse-centric controls (like point-and-click unit movement, army management, and tactical decisions, similar to Warlords 3). I've focused on those with gameplay vibes reminiscent of Warlordsβ€”hex/grid-based conquest, hero/army leading, and empire-building. All are free and licensed under GPL or similar.

LordsAWar!: A direct spiritual successor to Warlords II, where you command armies on a hex map, recruit heroes, and conquer territories via turn-based battles. Fully mouse-driven interface.

The Battle for Wesnoth: Fantasy-themed hex-based strategy with recruiting leaders, advancing units, and multi-campaign stories. Highly polished, entirely mouse-controllable for movement and combat.

Advanced Strategic Command: Inspired by Battle Isle, it features grid-based tactical warfare, resource management, and AI/multiplayer modesβ€”all navigated via mouse clicks for unit orders and terrain interaction.

LGeneral: A clone of Panzer General with WWII-themed campaigns; move divisions across maps, plan attacks, and upgrade forces using simple mouse controls.

MegaMek: A BattleTech simulator for hex-based mech and vehicle combat; assemble forces, roll dice for attacks, and execute turns purely with mouse inputs.

Tanks of Freedom: Modern take on capturing bases with tank squads in short campaigns; quick, mouse-only unit deployment and pathfinding on grid maps.

FreeOrion: Galactic 4X empire-builder like Master of Orion, involving exploration and fleet commands via intuitive mouse-driven menus and ship movements.

I'm simply sharing with you all what l came across, and looking forward to hearing if you've played any of these, or something similar.

Teaching open source to a child literally means taking them out of the aquarium like environment, and placing them in an ocean.

How do l introduce open source to a child ??πŸ€“πŸ€“

Can I possibly download games played exclusively with the mouse, including all the buttons and the scrolling wheel, of the 80s and the 90s ??πŸ€“πŸ€“πŸ€“πŸ€“πŸ€“

Can I post my general concerns and questions on technology in this community ??πŸ€“πŸ€“πŸ€“

Can I post regarding learning of young kids on Linux in this community ??πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Can anyone suggest me offline games for making kids practice control over the mouse ??πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Does my username TheracAriane bring anything to your mind ??
