I do think people using Mastodon already care enough about their Privacy and wouldn't signup on Threads.
Threads federation will also allow more exposure to the Mastodon as a whole too. Additionally, should bring ton of new users to the Fediverse.
Yup. Pocket Cast is also a good free service.
But this just ends up defragmenting the community as a whole and leads to doany re-posts.
I would love an option to auto hide cross-post tbh.
Also on a side note, when larger Lemmy instances open up communities which may be already established, kinda defeats the purpose of decentralisation. Like Piracy Community at .world was started after it was defed -> refed with the Largest Piracy community.
Rclone is also a good option with its encrypt feature
Caught with their pants down and now trying to look cool.
If you have Google Drive backups on, most of the apps will be auto installed (that were installed from Play Store) and the for all the apps supporting it, you will also have their data intact/signed in (not necessary to be installed from PS).
For rest of Media, I use MiXplorer. I setup local FTP/SMB/HTTP server and start a Hotspot. From old device, connect to hotspot and add the Server in MiXplorer. Then, just copy paste all the files. Alternatively, you can connect both your devices using a cable and copy-paste files.
Recently, I switched to using Folder Sync to sync all the required folders to Remote Clouds (Gdrive/Mega). This way, in case the device drop dead/stolen/etc, I have the copy of data to restore from easily. For personal docs, I use rclone to encrypt and sync files.
Thanks. Should be added FMHY too.
Yes. I did mention APN (Apple Push Notifications) to Beeper Push Notifications which then routes via FCM for Android. The whole setup does require active server cost + time to work on the app to bring it to parity with iMessage Features.
Thanks. After going through, I decided to stick with my current setup.
WhatsApp is also E2E and backup can also be encrypted (Atleast on Android).
I just hope we can Interoperability b/w Signal and WhatsApp.
