That they are a bad publisher, don't provide good feedback, their tools on the developer sides suck (the stories I heard from people who have released things), they don't help out smaller developers out at all, the 30% fee if you are small less fee if you are big thing is silly, that they are opaque as fuck when dealing with them, their moderation sucks (see how long it took them to do anything about review bombing for example), etc etc.

a point by point critique of every game

nice bit of bad faith there.

From what I heard they dropped that shit, steam still dropped them and didn't mentioned why, that isn't bad faith, nobody was saying it wasn't an edgy game, and the devs didn't hide that. (E: in fact their own faq openly mentions this. So no idea where you got the bad faith thing from, if you didnt think this up yourself but got it from some drama content creator you might want tl wonder if they are in bad faith).

You confused me complaining about the process with steam with me talking about the content of the game.

I mean lets not forget there are several sex with hitler games on steam.

I dont know, as steam has not told anybody why they object to the game. You confused me complaining about the process with steam with me talking about the content of the game.

The fucking bubble is bursting.

Doubt it, like cryptocurrencies, it will be kept on life support a lot longer and even more and more parts of the economy will be sacrificed to it.

Not that I disagree with the rest of the article btw. Im just annoyed at people claiming the bubble is bursting every time nvidia has 5% stock price reduction that is back to 0 the day after. So im lashing out due to that.

Yeah thats a kink. There prob are a bunch of sex workers he could hire who could help him with that.

E: forgot to mention, a sex worker even confirmed this is a kink.

Yeah Dare has been plausible deniable all in on AI for a while now.

Someone in the comments found the github (??) where they made the site or something, and it def was generated initially, but it used heavy nerd speak so it was translated.

"Warning: his endings are notoriously abrupt, like a segfault in the middle of your favorite function."

A bit yes, but also not great. See how they treated the horse game, which prob will cause the studio to close. And the whole not standing up against payment providers when they try to ban porn in general. (Think they might have done a small thing, but it took long, and wasn't coordinated), and then there is the moderation issues, the etc etc. Still Steam is better than Epic, but that is only because Epic is just bad as a storefront. Steam is lucky they didn't work on that harder than they did and assumed they could just get away with giving free games (it still can't properly keep you logged in).

WormGPT

That the chatbot didn't actually act like a worm should have made it clear how this person was a blackhat from the start. Bad names are also a sign of the dark side.

(I'm kidding, the name just got my hope up for a second that somebody had actually written a worm that infects other agents).

And all of this over a local 1% speed increase. Which he imagines just works just as well for everyone else. (I noted the Rationalism style, calculate this minor increase over all potential (imagined) users to make it into a big thing bit as well).

And his source for the increase? He played two games. (One of which was cyberpunk, which iirc can be weird re gpu optimizations, so it isn't even a reliable indication).

I'm esp weary of sharing stuff like this on a place like bsky, esp when I was just replying to others being a bit annoyed at people doing LLM based PRs. Hope people here have better self control at not actually going after people.

[–] Soyweiser@awful.systems 7 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Yeah I was reminded of this guy by some posts on bsky, and mentioned there I didn't want to link to him directly because I don't think that kind of stuff is nice and just leads to harassment, but reading those two new blog posts really made me doubt that for a moment. (Of course only posting it here is a good alternative, looking back at the old posts I had also forgotten that he just was a weird conservative).

I also found the part where he said 'I even labeled it as an experiment' quite annoying, that he doesn't realize that this doesn't matter at all. The developers still need to evaluate it like any normal post, and he didn't even ask them permission to do the experiment.
