Sounds like they have their head in their asses regarding the Maccabi fans as these are the same fans with links to the IDF, with confirmed human rights violators in their presence, who caused riots in Amsterdam. Banning them is the only sensible solution. Nothing 'oh they are innocent bystanders' about them. Ffs they chanted to kill all arabs in Amsterdam.

I have this with Star Wars. I have always been a huge star wars nerd. Visited conventions, had tons of Star Wars games, figures, clothing. Could memorize all the lines from movies and shows and was called a nerd for it.

Disney acquires the rights and it becomes a bit more mainstream and disneywashed. Suddenly it's cool to be a Star Wars enjoyer. Except Disney kinda butchered the series and the EU part of the story line with all the novels from the 90-00's are not incorporated despite being considered canon for a long time. And whenever I bring stuff from the EU up I'm a nerd again lol. Because that isn't the disneyfied version.

Dutch media, however, is saying they are good because the regime sees this as a perfect propaganda opportunity.

Which would not explain why the men's team is shit and the women's team isn't. Because having a men's team competing would arguably be better propaganda. Can't be better facilities in a country that sees women as equal.

I saw this niche documentary (if it even was that) on the DPRK years ago and in it the maker visited a football school at one point. As in, a legit school for football. Not sure how good the facilities are these days or if China doesn't have the same, but that could explain it. More investment is more result.

Rainpizza linked the fifa one which is working alright for me

But yeah the DPRK is much better.

Well looking at how the game goes that is an understandable choice

[–] SlayGuevara@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Currently watching it. Kinda hope for a DPRK victory.

Where could I watch it? Not even the Dutch tv will be showing it, it seems.

If I hadn't seen proof of this man in person I would've started believing he was a termianlly online troll because his trolling is so good

Every time I return to my home town I drive past ASML and I keep wondering what will happen if this building were to be randomly destroyed one way or another. It would turn the world into chaos I guess.

Which makes me wonder about the drone movement of the 'Russians', above seemingly unimportant bases in Belgium. Fly your drones a bit more North to ASML and you'd have the world on edge in a second.

Yeah I noticed that too. There's an airport nearby so I thought it was just a plane but the lights were brighter, bigger (because it was lower to the ground I guess) but they also flashed in a pattern you usually don't see with planes. Oh and it was just hovering in the air instead of moving. It's a shame I couldn't get a better look with my binocolars as it was too dark outside.

No clear footage of them. They are mostly there are night and mostly around military bases or airports. Not even the military knows what to do. Apparently just shooting isn't an option.

Like, it is considered one of the AES but you virtually never hear anything about it. Last I checked they were busy industrialising the country but that was it.

It's always a boost to see so many people coming together to strike and fight for their rights. Makes me feel not all hope is lost. It's the 7th consecutive monthly strike now.

We will have a break this summer and resume striking on October 14th for which the unions have called up everyone across all working fields.

So some people in my friend group over here in Belgium decided to throw their birthday party. They are also Dutch so they invited their friends from a small Dutch village to come over. So we had is big city folks with our left wing ideas on the one hand, and the typical white Dutch friend group from a village, mostly right wing.

Eventually politics came up for some reason and they made it clear to be right wing. It appeared to stop there as nobody was interested in politics, except this one girl who ticks all the boxes of a stereotypical Republican view of the left: queer, dyed hair, etc.

Now, the discussion that followed, and the way she handled it, was simply said amazing. The patience she had, the seriousness with which she treated the guys' concerns, the arguments she used. I was amazed, truly. And it worked. The typical things came up: migration, housing shortage, inflation, Gaza even. And she handled it so perfectly that many of them started doubting being a right winger. They're not there yet of course but I just know they will remember this conversation for a long time.

So after that I thought: I need this person in our party. And I went over to talk to her and told her I was amazed by how she handled it. I invited her over to our action group and she is really interested.

So not only were some guys turned slightly more to the left today, we even gained a new member!

Makes me gain some hope.

One of our party leaders was posting a picture with one of their members of Parliament saying how brave she is etc

Quick search tells me they are a marxist party but it's still Israeli

Right wing efficiency at it again

89 years ago Albert Pot and Theo Grijp, two union militants in Antwerp, were spreading out flyers for the elections when they heard about fascist activists targetting the dockworkers union building. They decided to check out what the problem was and managed to locate four fascists elsewhere in the city. One of them took out a gun and shot down Albert Pot. Theo Grijp chased off the shooter, only to be shot himself. They both died.

The murders resulted in a general strike in which half a million people in Belgium eventually halted their work. The enormous scale of the protest lead to the introduction of the 40 hour work week in Belgium together with 6 paid holidays a year, health insurance, child support money and a wage increase of 7%. This strike is considered the beginning of the social security system we have today in Belgium.

Rest in power, comrades.

I swear to God people will only display a modicum of care when disaster already has happened lol

Not a single drop of rain for weeks and ground water levels are rapidly declining but people don't care because it's nice weather at least. The government can't be arsed to do something unless it's to save farmers.

And when we inevitably have to ration our shit maybe then we will notice something's off. But it's not really popular to argue against good weather, I know.

Like, why does a gym attract so many dickheads. I'm just there minding my own damn business when I overhear dudes talking about how they are 'going to get so much pussy for lifting' and whatever dumb shit. It's a constant stream of male garbage coming from all around you. My fault for not wearing headphones I guess.

Is that why you lift? Really? Are most gym bros just terminally insecure man children? Fucking hell man. Who unironically talks like that? I know I'm probably in a bubble as a sober, vegan communist but still.

Israel is starving Gaza as we speak. They are explicitly stating no Palestinian will make it out alive.

I protest. I get out on the street. I boycott. But it doesn't improve these situation in the slightest. The rest of the world is looking and doing nothing. And I feel like losing hope a bit. Like, what can I do more? I don't know anymore.
