according to Global Military, the UK is only 1.5 above Iran whilst the USA is 24.8 above on their index. I find that concerning.

A tangent I've been down myself, I think recent climate action groups protests have shown how ultimately ineffective this kind of antagonistic attention seeking protest actions are. Pink yachts and stopping traffic causes more avoidance of the issue supposedly cared about. I've always thought the only way to get any kind of productive attention from governments or large corporations, or government via large corporations is to interrupt the flow of money. If one dislikes big oil, get a bike. All that being said, when I was an angry young man I took part in my share of protest marches, marching for the very rights now enjoyed by the people we are commenting on here. I wonder if I would advise that youngster to march again, now I've seen today's protests?
Without getting into the politics, this is the kind of act that makes groups with perfectly valid claims and arguments unpopular with the public. These are intelligent people, why is it so hard for them to understand that whilst I might support them for their beliefs etc, now I will not.
Whilst I do not condone this nasty practice, I think some responsibility must be placed with local authorities. The availability of legal disposal sites has decreased significantly, and the cost to use the remaining ones has increased. My local tip for example has banned all vans and commercial vehicles, this was not the case a few years ago when commercial vehicles simply paid a reasonable fee. If there is no viable legal option, what will happen? Fly tipping. Local authorities have been cutting all types of waste management, including household waste, fortnightly bin collections for example? Also here the number of litter bins has decreased, and the remaining ones are always full or overflowing, Councils see waste disposal as a first hit for budget cuts, when this is backward thinking.
Similar in Scotland still, except flush with the ground in a rubberised floor, this could be worse? Ground lever must increase potential for high speeds?
I remember these monsters, and much bigger than this photo....................
Ah, the glory of privatisation. Show me a single public service now privatised that has improved in any way, water? rail ? Telecoms? the list is long.
The UK should have kicked the USA out a long time ago.
