I’ve posted videos before on “Why Monero”, but this one takes a step back and asks Why Privacy in general. We’ve flashed the Monero logo 3 times throughout the video, especially on the part that says “unconditional wealth”.

How does this video benefit you?

It’s full of great examples and arguments you can use in convincing friends about Monero and the harm of invasive Big Tech. Just using freedom tech yourself is not enough, you have to get the people you’re talking to, or interacting with to accept Monero, use encrypted messengers, ect.

Also this subtle soft-sells Monero by flashing the logo a few times to pique interest, but without bashing people over the head with it. https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/why-privacy/

I appeared on the Monero Talk podcast, to discuss the new Session bot software Simplified Privacy has been creating. This would allow for the uncensored distribution of content, even under the harshest conditions such as an outright Monero ban.

See the instance setup yourself, by sending a message on Session to the ID: “MoneroTalk”

One word, without quotes. You can download session at getsession.org. As well as the other instance we have setup, at "Simple"

It’s a very long podcast, but I start at 1 hour 17 minutes in, https://www.monerotalk.live/digital-privacy-w-simplified-privacy-monero-price-report-news-more-epi-152

And I see the posts here about Nostr, I’m a fan of that too. This compliments Nostr perfectly. As Nostr is weaker censorship, but easier to spread on the clearweb.

This is an article, not a video.

Summary Highlight copy pasted: Today was supposed to be a pivotal moment where the US surveillance programs (that allow warrantless wiretapping) would either be reformed or expanded. Dual competing versions of the new bills were supposed to be voted on today in Congress, with only one moving forward. Instead surprisingly, due to public backlash, the Speaker of the House decided to pull both versions of the bills from being voted on, and moved to extend the status quo.

Hi, thanks for the reply. So with Mastodon, your identity is tied to a server which the admin can censor. If you own the server, then other servers can censor via defederation. This becomes an issue in the case that Monero is banned by governments and physical locations with IP addresses have to comply.

Instead, Nostr separates identity from physical locations through encryption. This allows you to own your identity like you'd self-custody Monero. This video goes over the basics: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/nostrtutorial/

Monero on Nostr: Some progress (video.simplifiedprivacy.com)
submitted 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) by ShadowRebel@monero.town to c/monero@monero.town

The Monero coup of Nostr continues? Yes, Simplified Privacy made a new tutorial on the Gossip client for desktop, and it had a brief reference to encourage the use of Pluja’s Monero Nostr relay. While this was a small part of the overall video, the lead developer of the client reposted it to his Nostr feed! We want to break down barriers and allow discussion for all!

Brief Background: Nostr is a decentralized Twitter perfect for Monero discussion and distribution after a potential ban. The sore point is that has bitcoin lightning zaps built in to many clients… However, the bitcoin part is completely separate from the core message protocol and Monero could be used instead IF THERE WAS THE WILL to do so….

In order to encourage more Monero users to adopt Nostr, Simplified Privacy continues to pump out tutorial videos. Many different clients can be used, just like there’s many different XMR wallets.

Our new animated tutorial covers Gossip, a secure client for Linux/Windows/Mac: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/gossip/

(Gossip is great for Tor speed and security.)

This briefly discussed Pluja’s XMR relay, creator of KYC not Me: xmr.usenostr.org

And if you know nothing about Nostr, check our previous tutorial on Amethyst, Iris, & Primal: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/nostrtutorial/

Here’s our Nostr Public Key: npub14slk4lshtylkrqg9z0dvng09gn58h88frvnax7uga3v0h25szj4qzjt5d6

We got this! DM and we’ll follow back (if you actually post about XMR)

I am a man of optimism! I may fail, but if I do nothing, that’s also a failure. So might as well give it a shot.

New SearX on Monero VPS (searx.simplifiedprivacy.com)
submitted 7 months ago by ShadowRebel@monero.town to c/monero@monero.town

Simplified Privacy is now running a free SearXNG Search Engine front end for your convenience:

searx.simplifiedprivacy.com

This acts as an open source proxy for your searches to a mix of search engines to guarantee no logs or browser fingerprinting. If you forget the URL, it's on the Resources tab on our website.

What does this have to do with Monero?

  1. We have a big Monero icon on our main logo with lots of pro-friendly Monero content. As we expose different communities to this (Nostr, SimpleX, Session, forums), it promotes and solidifies Monero’s presence in the broader privacy community.

  2. We’re literally hosting this on Kyun.host which is a Monero-only free-speech friendly VPS provider. If you need an XMR node, this is your spot!

If you want to find out about new free privacy resources we will be hosting in the future, follow us on Nostr: npub14slk4lshtylkrqg9z0dvng09gn58h88frvnax7uga3v0h25szj4qzjt5d6

Or DM the Session messenger bot with the Session ID: Simple

Nostr Tutorial to on-board Monero (video.simplifiedprivacy.com)
submitted 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) by ShadowRebel@monero.town to c/monero@monero.town

The movement to bring Monero to Nostr is growing, so we can survive in a post XMR-ban world.

As the United Nations, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and partners of the Rockefeller Foundation are pushing for a plan to accelerate digital IDs called “50 in 5” with 11 countries already signing up...

As US politicians such as Nikki Haley promote forced identification on social media..

Nostr, a decentralized Twitter, continues to not only grow in popularity, but see privacy content dominate the platform. To help on-board you, I just made a new video tutorial covering the basics of how it works, and a few clients including Amethyst, Iris, and Primal: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/nostrtutorial/

The number of Monero heads on Nostr continues to grow. It’s a force that can’t be stopped. We got the pitchforks in the air, “Privacy by default!”

SimpleX is a private encrypted messenger that creates new identities for each conversation. However, as we pointed out in a previous video, when you first install the app, it’s all the developer’s own servers. This has metadata and centralization risks. We are here to help.

SimplifiedPrivacy.com is a completely different firm than SimpleX (although we share the same first word). We just released a tutorial video with a self-host script for any Debian/Ubuntu VPS that you can use to easily self-host a SimpleX server: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/simplex/

In the tutorial video, we taught how to use Kyun.host a Monero focused free speech provider in Romania that we recommend! However, you can use any provider.

Here is the script on our self-hosted gitlab on Kyun with an Iceland domain: https://git.simplifiedprivacy.is/publicgroup/simplex-self-host/

If you do not wish to self-host, you can add our SimpleX servers to your app for free:

I'm making educational content OFF youtube/google. Even if you already know this information, this video is useful to send to a beginner you want to talk with.

XMPP is considered the gold standard of encrypted messengers by both cybersecurity academics and black market criminals, but because its just decentralized code with no clear corporation behind it, there is a lack of a marketing budget or educational materials.

Why use XMPP? Because it’s fast and efficient for use with Tor. It’s easy to host your own server and because it’s fully decentralized, there is no official client for corrupt governments to ban from app stores. This client flexibility gives both users and developers the freedom to participate in the system with a variety of different features. However, different clients work on different operating systems.

This video gives a broad overview of XMPP Clients for beginners: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/xmppclients/

In today’s episode, we discuss how to avoid being de-anonymized on Tor. Excellent episode for beginners covering the Linux distributions Whonix and Tails, the different types of virtual machines such as Oracle Virtbox, QEMU KVM, Xen/Qubes, and setting up your own Tor entrance. And the video is partially animated to make the concepts easy. Enjoy: http://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/tor/

GrapheneOS build for the Pixel 8 is out. This is not the final official version, but it’s making it’s way around their Matrix room, and they’re doing debugs. And we’re covering the Pixel 8 bugs/release as it unfolds in this article: https://simplifiedprivacy.com/graphenes-pixel-8-version-is-out/

Brand-new video that I’m in timed to cover the basics behind DeGoogled Phones: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/degoogledphonebasics/

Simplified Privacy is a “no-fiat” Monero phone supplier. Keep the economy circular, as we don’t spend the XMR you give us for fiat, if it is spent, it’s within the community.

If you buy a Pixel 8 from a fiat supplier, it ties the IMEI to your credit card, which connects to cell towers. This means government thugs watch your location like a pet dog with a “find me” collar.

Legal disclaimer: I do not support illegal activity, but instead disagree philosophically with this invasion of privacy.

Even if you don't want to buy it, you can enjoy our free educational resources that reject Youtube/google tracking

Monero on Nostr (monero.town)
submitted 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) by ShadowRebel@monero.town to c/monero@monero.town

What is Nostr? Nostr is decentralized messaging system with the most prevalent current use case being a censorship resistant twitter. It currently has custodial bitcoin lighting payments built in.

Can Monero be added instead of bitcoin? Yes, Bitcoin lightning is completely separate from the message protocol. You absolutely can have a client for Monero tipping, that can communicate with non-monero clients. The bitcoiners would just not see the monero part.

Why care about Nostr? It’s a “self-custodial twitter”. Nostr lets you own your audience like Monero lets you own your money. This is important as governments crack down on free speech, and would allow for an open forum for monero to continue discussion during a ban. To say "why care about Nostr?" is like saying "Why care about free speech?"

Are Nostr DMs private? They can be if you use certain clients. This video goes over Nostr privacy & some basics: https://video.simplifiedprivacy.com/nostrprivacy/

What attempts have been made so far to put Monero on Nostr? There’s been multiple funding attempts including one with Cake Wallet, but it’s not gained that much attention. Mostly due to Monero people being so insane angry about the Bitcoin Maxis that are on Nostr, however we need to separate the technology from the people talking on that technology. To say "Forget Nostr because Bitcoin Maxis use it" is like saying "Forget Monero because criminals use it"

Why is Nostr better than mastodon? Mastodon ties identity to DNS server IP addresses. IP addresses are tied to physical locations which the basis for government control via violence. While as Nostr ties identity to public keys beyond tyranny's grasp. Also on Mastodon, groups have de-federation lists, which is coordinated censorship.

What do you want from me? I’m not asking for money, the Nostr Monero client will get funded if there’s active community on it. I’m asking for you to make a Nostr account and have fun. Here’s a list of some XMR heads on the platform you can check out:

You can not use Facebook with JS disabled. uBlock Origin is an option to reduce facebook off the platform. Running a VM is an effective strategy for isolation of certain sites. No solution is perfect, nor is it for everyone.
