Chief Justice John Roberts on Wednesday defended the Supreme Court from what he believes are misconceptions held by the American people that he and his colleagues are “political actors” who are making decisions based on policy, not law.

Misconceptions? No I think the American public knows exactly what you are, Justice Field.

Well, out of the two of us, you either forgot about 2/3 of the last the last elections or chose to ignore then because you knew they disproved your point.

Says you.

And yes, the Senators is a weird thing but on the other hand, imagine how powerful progressive Senators could be if only progressives voted!

I'll rally the progressive cattle that outnumber humans in Wyoming and travel to the great Mormon state of Utah and pitch my case, post-haste! /s

Fwiw, the usual and more striking comparison for California and Canada is that California has almost as many people as all of Canada

Which is why you should really reconsider how lacking your understanding is. I'm comparing states and provinces and the whole country of Canada can't even match. You think California runs the federal government?

Way to assume that I'm some child because you can't grasp how American politics works, and how rigged it is against us. I've voted Dem my whole life and we do have progressive candidates out in our state legislature where my voice actually gets heard (and even that is flawed and limited to two parties as well).

Anyway, did you know each of our states only gets two senators? My home state of Massachusetts gets the same number of Senators as California (which has over double the population of Ontario) and Wyoming (which has under half the population of Saskatchewan).

He struggles with ramps and walking unassisted. He's an elderly man with dementia. I'm pretty sure a gentle push or some uneven ground could end him.

Republicans are so weak!

Ah yes, I should have voted in the primary we totally had for Kamala! Or that one right before that one that totally happened with just Biden on the ticket! That was clearly my bad. Maybe I'll have two choices next time and I'll vote extra hard, just for you.

Christianity is a blight.

Anyway I am clearly just feeding the trolls at this point. I'm just going to block and move on, holy shit.

If you wanted something different you wouldn’t be taking this “my way or the highway” stance when you know you don’t have the votes to win.

I'm asking for better candidates and action, not "fuck you vote for me or die".

If I show you an example of a trans person with a nazi tattoo would you accuse all trans people of being Nazis? Of course not because that is an obvious bad faith argument made by cherry picking exceptions. The group isn’t responsible for the actions of the individual.

I'm talking about Graham Platner, asshole. And if dems aren't responsible for their party members who caucus under them, primary with them, and get endorsed by them, who is?

This is a good example of why leftists can’t win elections and why they are a liability to anyone that tries to court them.

In a democracy you have to find common ground with people you don’t agree with on everything. Because if you don’t, you don’t have a chance at winning like leftists.

Do you own a mirror?

Republicans want to make it illegal to be trans while dems have trans politicians fighting for trans rights. This is just one of many blatantly obvious differences that you pretend don’t exist so you can continue your bad faith argument if “both sides same”.

Boy, I sure do love being a cudgel to beat dissenters with when they disagree with the Neoliberal party. Tell me that my life is contingent on the machine continuing to threaten me constantly while nothing is done to solve the systemic issues that allowed this insane shit to happen. Meanwhile, you take the success of leftists in the Dem caucus and hold them up as examples of neoliberal values.

I think ultimately we just have different goals. I want something different and you want the turd sandwich because the giant douche isn't palatable to you and you can't imagine not voting for the turd sandwich. Hell, you're crashing out because we're rightfully upset that no consequences for Trump will come from Dems. We're in a thread about Jeffries saying that.

I mean, y'all are telling us to vote for fucks who have literal Nazi tattoos. You're trying to get us to platform a Governor who tore down homeless encampments and hosts right-wing podcasters and platforms their horrid views. Last election, Kamala paraded fucking Liz Cheney around as an endorsement. That's somehow "winner" behavior worthy of alienating leftists over while also blaming them for that gun you're holding and aiming at your foot.

Neoliberals haven’t been losing elections… leftists have.

Big laugh from this. This country is locked into a two party system and one of them unfortunately isn't "leftist". Same with a bunch of other political ideologies.

Either way, taking the stance of "you're losers, so you better vote for us" is really convincing, just sayin. If you want leftists to vote dem like they are a monolith, then dems have to act like a monolith and not like a bucket catching scraps.

Both parties do not have the same goals and just because private interest groups will never stop trying to influence them doesn’t mean the parties themselves have the same goals.

They take money from the same oligarchs. They hide donor sources through superpacs. They trade stocks with government intel. They harbor incredible resentment for the poor. They throw our tax dollars at bombs used to kill children. How exactly are their goals that different?

My only interest is getting republicans and Trump out of office because nothing else is possible until that happens.

Clearly. You seem to be willing to change nothing else in the process as well. I personally think we're collectively past status quo and bandaids. Things need to change, and change fucking drastically, or we'll just get another Trump again in the near future. Our politics are deeply corrupt and you cannot expect those of us not dunking our heads in the kool-aid to be chill with neoliberal oligarchy.

Punch left all you like, all you're doing is engaging in the neoliberal past time of being an aloof loser.
