Dassault Systemes (CATIA and SolidWorks) is French and Bricsys (BricsCAD) it's Belgian/Swedish. Unfortunately PTC and Autodesk are both American.

Yeah I have a Philips and was very happy that during the set-up process it let me say that I didn't want to use smart features or connect it to the internet, so I just have it connected to a console. Definitely can recommend Phillips.

If you right click on the tab bar on regular Firefox you can enable vertical tabs. I don't think they're as nice as Zen's vertical tabs but they're still pretty good

The research comes from Joshua Pearce's lab which generally does pretty good work. They tend to focus on "appropriate technology" especially for the developing world, so it makes a lot more sense when you look at it in combination with their other research focusing on low resource environments.
