AI generated summary:

South Korean police attempted to arrest suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol after he ignored multiple summonses related to an investigation into his alleged abuse of power and incitement of insurrection during a failed martial law declaration. The operation, involving around 150 officers, was called off after a six-hour standoff due to being outnumbered by Yoon's supporters and his security personnel. Yoon's supporters celebrated the police's withdrawal, chanting slogans reminiscent of U.S. election protests. The investigation agency, the Corruption Investigation Office (CIO), expressed regret over Yoon's refusal to cooperate and indicated they may seek a new arrest warrant before the current one expires on January 6. Political tensions have escalated in South Korea, with ongoing protests and parliamentary actions against Yoon and his administration.

Orange cats are known for their energetic and mischievous nature, with a cultural belief in Italy that they are often leaders. This reputation is linked to the fact that most orange cats are male, a phenomenon explained by recent genetic research. Two independent scientific teams discovered that a mutation on the X chromosome is responsible for the orange coat color in domesticated cats.

Male cats have one X chromosome, while females have two, which accounts for the mixed coloration seen in female

tortoiseshell and calico cats. Unlike other mammals, where mutations in the Mc1r gene lead to red fur, cats have a different genetic mechanism. The gene Arhgap36, located on the X chromosome, was identified as the source of the orange coloration, resulting in a significant increase in RNA production. This finding sheds light on the unique genetic basis for orange fur in cats, making them a "genetic unicorn" among felines.

And one big issue is convenience.

People will not go to a more humane place if it's not convenient enough. For example, choosing a Fediverse instance is a no-no for even my tech savvy friends. Too much choice, too many steps.

Most people, at least around me, want to click and consume. So they stay on predatory yet easy to use platforms.

I still try to bring awareness nonetheless.

I'm intrigued by Kagi and maybe I'll try it. I like the business model of subscription instead of being the product. I don't mind paying for my privacy. It's not FOSS though, so we may never know if they're not reselling our data.
