I mean it's cool, but "theoretically eternal" is a tad optimistic. I have a refrigerator that had several very similar capacitors to the two I'm seeing here. One of these capacitors had swollen beyond recognition and disabled it after a mere 5 years.

I don't have to give any consideration to how true this is, because I quit windows last year. It's liberating.
OK so I understand the Dutch have a reputation, but if you are making your ride wait on you because you aren't ready at the appointed time - nevermind the fact that your ride isn't charging you for gas (one hopes, since OP is going anyway and offered to pick him up, to do so would be just as rude as the coffee) - it would just be too unbelievably outrageous to bill them half a Euro. I have to conclude that this is ragebait.
I switched late last year, Linux is not (that) hard and I have not had a single problem running any games (Steam, Heroic and Lutris cover them all). Hell, I run emulators now that I never did before and I have all my Wii, WiiU, Switch, PS3 and Xbox games on my Linux machine, lol.
She holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Just goes to show you that even higher education can't overcome religious brainwashing. She's deeply religious and dumb as a fucking rock. Dumb people sure know how to pull levers of power though, she's in there doing a bang-up job and even has time to propagandize a child she doesn't know (by claiming he's a victim of propaganda, naturally, as projection in one form or another appears to be the sole play in their playbook).
100%. For any fans of old out there whose Lemmy instance doesn't support it, you can use https://o.opnxng.com/ as a proxy.
I looked because I wasn't really sure. I upgraded late last year. The computer I'm on right now is that upgrade (based around a 5070). Before that, my last build was in 2020, but I didn't upgrade to replace the 2020, I upgraded to add a second computer.
I could have ridden the 2020 for another 2-3 years easy. Matter of fact, looking back prior to 2020, my previous build appears to have been 2011. So yeah, I "upgrade" every 8-9 years.
All software BlueSky uses is open source and self-hostable and already a bunch of different implementations have started to pop up independently.
Oh that's cool. So where can I sign up to interact with BlueSky users if I don't want to sign up to BlueSky?
I understood this reference. Thanks @pugjesus@lemmy.world!
Interesting, that never occurred to me. I said that about the wheelhouse because I have a Mastodon account I read from time to time and I can't recall ever seeing any Lemmy content show in my feed. I never did Twitter though so I'm kind of lost, it might be I just don't know what I'm doing. I followed like 40 hashtags but I still don't get a huge amount of content.
There seems to be a neverending supply of complaints about the size and reach of the Fediverse and I'm just sitting here thinking this is about all the attention I'd like it to ever get. This is fucking nice. Doesn't monopolize your whole day, always has at least some fresh content, users are free with the upvotes and discourse is downright civil most of the time. Does anybody really want this place to be like Reddit or Instagram?
