Ah Shit, Here We Go Again

It’s a French keyboard (AZERTY) – not sure if that’ll suit you?
I did consider Asahi Linux, but the support isn’t comprehensive – particularly when it comes to display via USB-C, which I need because I mostly use my MacBook Pro with the lid closed, connected to a dock and two external monitors.
Maybe it's time to consider SailfishOS as a real alternative to Android (which remains very closely linked to Google)?
GrapheneOS fanboy btw 🤡
My answer is along the same lines as yours 😉
Ubuntu, Android... even they have proprietary parts. That’s the business. SailfishOS does too, but only a small part (~20%) is proprietary, like some UI components and hardware drivers. It’s not fully closed, just a pragmatic mix to work on real devices. So yes, you gotta pay the Jolla team.
Absolutely! There is also a forum thread that discusses this topic: https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/would-the-new-2026-jolla-phone-work-in-the-us/30366
