I agree that the red flag made it easy for him to win, but not because of the free pitstop, it's because Merc and McLaren made the wrong strategy call.

Everybody knows that if the race conditions require wets there's a high chance the race is called off. Both Merc and McLaren pitted before the worst rain which means they weren't waiting to see if the race is called off. Had the race been called off I don't think people would be looking at Max. I think people would be questioning why Merc and McLaren decided to pit early. The red flag was beneficial to Max because Merc and McLaren made the wrong call by pitting early.

You can take your hyperbole and get back on the "I hate Max Verstappen" train. It's pretty obvious you're one of those people.

Did you watch the same race as the rest of us? He didn't just cruise into first position, he passed half the grid before the red flag.

And pretty ironic calling others thin skinned when you're the one who can't accept that Max was phenomenal this race. Every comment trying to downplay his racing.

[-] GoodEye8@lemm.ee 12 points 1 day ago

17 fastest laps and finishing 19 seconds ahead of Ocon begs to differ. Max would've won even if he had pitted under the safety car and he would've beaten Norris even without a safety car. Nobody had the pace Max had. The red flag made his race easier but it didn't "make all the difference".

I appreciate the effort but I'm not American. I simply follow American politics because sadly American politics impacts the rest of the world.

[-] GoodEye8@lemm.ee 4 points 3 days ago

In vacuum I agree. In the US electoral system voting for a third party is almost the same not voting at all, so it really doesn't matter if you vote for third party or you vote for nobody. My issue is that in the context of America voting third party makes no sense, especially this election. By voting third party you don't care who gets elected and it makes no sense to me because who goes "I don't really care if fascists come into power and start oppressing women and foreigners". Who the fuck is indifferent to fascism? Apparently third party voters.

And how exactly does a free fly invalidate the article about refunds requiring an NDA? Nobody is questioning whether there's is some semblance of a game in a project that has been in development for over a decade, it would be a massive red flag if there's wasn't. What people are questioning is why is there a secret shop page that players can access ONLY after they've spent a thousand dollars on the game, and then another secret shop page after they've spent 10k? What's up with the predatory practices?

Is your response "No no no, don't look at those controversies. Look at how pretty the game is"? A free fly event doesn't invalidate the claim that you might need to sign an NDA to get a refund. It doesn't invalidate the claim that the devs had to pull 7 day work weeks. There are loads of criticism that the free fly does not address at all. These articles would exist even if everyone tried the free fly.

From my experience games that get "hate articles" are games that are already doing questionable things. You don't get such articles circulating about good games because that shit just won't stick. When it comes to SC and CI that shit does stick.

It is autopilot (a poor one but still one) that legally calls itself cruise control so Tesla wouldn't have to take responsibility when it inevitably breaks the law.

I don't know about your situation but it is okay to not have any aspirations. I had one aspiration which is kind of a cop out because everyone wants that. I wanted to be happy with my life. I figured if I was happy I'd figure out what I really wanted to do. Once I figured out how to be happy nothing changed, I didn't get some magical desire to do more or be more. I was happy and I was happy being happy.

Don't put so much pressure on yourself. If you have aspirations you'll probably feel them, and if you dont feel them then maybe you don't have them. There's no set way to go through life, some people have aspirations and some don't. The only good life advice I can give is that best way to go through life is doing whatever makes you happy. It's your life, don't live it for what society expects you to live for, don't live it for what your parentst want you to live for, live for yourself.

Kids are absolutely post main story content. You better have your life in order and your aspirations met because you're about to do some serious compromising when you throw a kid in the mix. I think one of the best decisions of my life was to fulfill my needs before having children.

So if your ISP goes under and it's the only option in your area you'd rather be without internet than have a nationalized internet, even if the government is not allowed to snoop your data?

Hello

This community has been rather inactive for a long time and probably partly because the community creator and former mod was never active. There's also no strong CS community on lemmy so I decided to step up and hopefully shape this community into a healthy CS community, because I love CS and I don't want to go Reddit for my CS fix.

Moving forward I will take a more active role in this community to post content for others to discuss. To focus the discussions I will start by creating megathreads for the bigger happenings in the community. For instance instead of having 20 posts about the HLTV top 20 players that will get little to no comments, I will create a HLTV top 20 megathread to get more a discussion going on.

At least that's the plan, please do stick around and help me (by posting, commenting and upvoting) help you get this community up and running.

I would like to take a mod position to try and get this community off the ground as @Osiris seems to be inactive.

Not just that. People wonder why online games are so toxic, overly competitive and filled with cheaters. Matchmaking is the reason.

You don't have to be nice because chances are you're never going to play with those people again. All other matchmade players are just glorified bots, they're completely dehumanized. That means shitheads can act like shitheads without any repercussions. Compare that to community servers where the admin will ban you if you're an asshole. You even end up making friends because the same people will visit the same server.

And what's your purpose for playing when everyone you're playing with are glorified bots? Well your focus turns on you which in turn means your main metric of fun becomes your own skill. Since you can directly measure your own skill you look a things like wins/losses and kdr. You start to focus on things that correlate to competitive play and if the matchmaking is skill-based the game actually pushes you into sweats as the goal is to get you to a statistical 50% winrate. Now compare that to community servers where you're not pushed into sweats, the overall skill of players stays largely the same and because you'll be playing with people you know there no need to focus on being the best you can be, you can just mess around with others.

And of course cheating is a huge issue, but again it's one of those things where having an admin to vet sus players make a huge difference. The admin isn't infallible but cheating is less of an issue if you're playing with people you know.

But people would much rather give it all up and deal with toxicity, sweats and cheating because the server admin could be a badmin. But maybe I'm just old and am remembering the good old days when you could make friends playing on the same server.
