Yes, several times. I'm in the Philippines and power is intermittent, unstable. I think that took its toll and inner components suffered. It's all closed up so not a dust issue. Evening it drops to 40°C and it doesn't act up anymore. Maybe I'll move it in front of the aircon or turn a fan to it to keep it cool
After 3 years of no issues, the main base now overheats and shuts on and off every 5-15 minutes. Temp reaches 45°C. Why would this happen now and what might I do about it?

I think the report tries to show that opensource is preferable to closed AI, as regards performance, monetary cost, and access among others.
It doesn't mention environmental concerns, sadly. But nonetheless, at least from my understanding, good opensource models can be run by people or institutions that choose to power them responsibly, not to mention the fact that more eyes on the models mean they can be optimized for resource use faster perhaps than closed models which are incentivised to increase raw performance.
In my view, any efforts that keep AI open at all levels should be worthy of support, no?
