Nice presentation, but the time capsule looks like a bad disappointment.

You've got your parties backward, but thank you.

Funny, that image link is 404 Not Found.

I'd love to see an option made available for magazines saying, "Voters must be members", and perhaps "Hide content from /all".

This is part of a larger discussion on moderator pruning.

I think it'd help to start emailing notifications if they're not checked within a certain period of time.

Hurray!

I think it's sad, though, how few people seem to realize how potentially game-changing it is. I wish OpenAI did a better job of communicating to us users.

Over the past month I've continued to tweak and improve my own custom instructions, and a couple of things I'll share here that seem broadly useful:

I understand that you're an AI language model, and not a human. Consequentially I understand that your abilities are limited.

Boom, no more explanations of the obvious.

Respond to me using advanced technical language and advanced concepts.

(Or similarly, adjust to your own preferred learning level.)

You are authoritarian and you don't even realize it. All of your details are irrelevant. Get off your high horse, and recognize that this is a marketplace of ideas, where all of our ideas are equally valid. Stop trying to silence people. It will end badly for all of us.

Like so many other people in this thread, you are conflating the principle of free speech with the US First Amendment. Do they not teach this stuff in Civics Class anymore? The First Amendment is predicated on free speech. Free speech is fundamental to western civilization. The first Amendment is only applicable to government, whereas the principle of free speech is applicable to everyone in western civilization. We must all uphold free speech for all people, lest western civilization collapses.

In a free society, we have the downvote button for content we personally dislike. You're free to criticize their beliefs, and you're free to try to change their minds. But as soon as you try to silence anyone, you become an enemy of free society. We must all work to uphold western civilization, while realizing that it most certainly will always provide a platform for people (including ourselves) to explore all manner of ideas freely.

It's a confluence of many factors, some of which I already listed, and instead of accepting and seeking knowledge, you rejected my explanation. I'm done replying to you here. Take care.

The current default "Homepage" value is "All". That makes sense for users with zero subscribed magazines, so they see something.

But for users with one or more subscribed magazines, the default value for "Homepage" needs to be "Subscriptions".

That's partially just because subscriptions mean little if the default frontpage ignores them. But there's a more important reason than that.

The current situation is that posts in m/Conservative are heavily downvoted, and barely upvoted. (Whatever your politics may be, consider if this was happening to you.) As more ex-redditors join, this problem is likely to worsen.

Eventually moderators need better controls, to say things like "Only members can vote", etc.

But for now, a very easy fix is to change the default value of "Homepage" to be "Subscriptions". Of course, "All" should still be a selectable option for those who prefer it.
