CREAM

  • Brush: Truefitt & Hill Wellington 24mm Silvertip
  • Razor: Gillette Tech English Flat Bottom
  • Blade: Personna Platinum (7)
  • Lather: Truefitt & Hill - Grafton - Cream
  • Post Shave: Unilever - Brut - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Thayers - Lemon - Toner
  • Fragrance: Floris of London - JF - Eau de Toilette
  • Talc: Yardley Classic

Not a lot to say. I enjoy this Grafton scent, but rarely use this cream. The brush and this cream were part of a gift set that I received long ago. The razor is another gift (from u/VisceralWatch) that I really should use more often. These little FBTs are terrific shavers.

Here are some photos of my collection of shaving stuff.

I have one of those from The VisceralWatch Store too. It took me a while to figure out you can screw the handle back on itself for storage!

Yeah, I got it by just fiddling with it when wondering why it was so small. But I made a flippant comment on how well the razor worked given its small handle when I published this photo knowing that I had this photo in the bag for the next day. VW was very concerned that I had used the razor with the handle collapsed :)

Oh, do dessication bags in not-airtight drawers work for a significant amount of time? Or can those be reactivated?

I never thought about those options

I'm operating under the assumption that they are better than nothing. I bought them in volume (🙄) and replace them about once per month. It helps that my collection o' stuff is way from the WCs in the house.

Makes we want to test this :)

This would be very easy for me to do. I have a bunch of digital humidity and temperature meters that I bought for building my own tupperdors for my cigar collection. But, alas, I spend my time dealing with YouTube comments on why abrasives work the way they do. To some, this is just complete voodoo, and yet it is so important, it has been studied to death. Clearly, I need to revisit my "don't plan, just push the button then start talking" approach :)

CREAM

  • Brush: Zenith - 506 N XS (extra soft horse) #HORSESASS
  • Razor: Razorock - Hawk V3 (standard plate)
  • Blade: Feather - Professional
  • Lather: Lea - Classic
  • Post Shave: Lea - Classic
  • Fragrance: Sir - Irisch Moos

Theme: It's a cream!

Relevant post & frag: Lea is the fresh little mossy brother of Irisch Moos. (Moss being the link)

Challenge: Sigh, every year I think I should do an elaborate show of all my stuff, and every year I'm short on time on Den Tour Day. Even worse, I have absolutely no excuse because 1) Den Tour Day happens every year, so anyone could have prepared it beforehand, and 2) I chose the date for this challenge, so I even had specific knowledge about when this would happen weeks ago. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Have some poor pictures of my den storage.

Have some poor pictures of my den storage.

Yeah! Jeez! :) I guess I'll be lenient with criticism based on fatherhood and working grounds.

Wednesday, June 12, 2024: Megalodon Mittwoch

Maybe I should change my routine Megalodon Wednesdays? Or maybe not: the soap is really good, the scent is growing on me, and even though I have a tendency to overload with this very soft soap, I'm very happy about it.

Have a good night!

  • Prep: head wash
  • Razor: Gillette Sensor (modern version)
  • Blade: Gillette Sensor 2-blade cartridge
  • Brush: Omega Roma Colosseo 31 mm
  • Lather: HAGS Apocalypse soap stick
  • Post Shave: Natura Siberica ASB gel

The electric head shaver I brought with me was simply getting too irritating for my skin so I bought a cheap re-launch of the Gillette Sensor yesterday (with a flimsy plastic handle instead of metal, but whatever - it's a pure travel option anyway)

This shave was rather nice. 2-blade cartridges give me the least irritation and despite no fancy pivot mechanisms or flexballs, it was a solid head shave. It's rather funny that HAGS just pressed the soft soap into a stick format. I use it by smearing it a bit on top of my dome, then spread it all over with wet hands before lathering it up with the brush. I really wish soap sticks would still be available in drugstores around here, but no such luck. I really miss the option of a safety razor though, so I think about getting a Feather Popular for my travel bag again.
