You mean giving the Mafia a successful money laundering scheme, or a Shitty Restaurant owner unearned success wasn't as good payback as Anon says it was. Well they sure could've fooled me!

Exactly. Here's how it apparently normally goes: the "owners" are typically an older couple that want to run a restaurant or are running a restaurant in Sicily. They are given this golden opportunity to run a restaurant in the United States. They get some reasonable portion of the proceeds, but I'm not super clear on this part. What they don't have to worry about as the restaurant owners is stocking the supplies. Someone takes care of stocking the supplies and that is where things get moved. It could be things that are hidden in cans imported from Italy or wherever.

The food is typically remarkably good, as is typically the experience. Some of the best, Italian food I've had has been in places where there's a picture of a mafia boss and in some cases a picture of the mafia Boss shaking hands with the owner.
