It is being used as a weight loss drug and an alternative to bariatric surgery. It can have major side effects, needs to be used for life to keep the weight off, and is quite expensive from my understanding.

Obviously diet is the best way to lose weight. Like surgery, it's more of a last-resort.

(this is not medical advice, if you're interested in ozempic ask your doctor, this is my personal opinion)

it's a medication for controlling blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes, akaik, but as a taurus they should probably stick to the generic

why the fuck does a diabetes drug for more insulin make people lose weight? i don't understand the mechanism here

Aside from the glucose regulation stuff, the hormone it mimics also suppresses the appetite and slows digestion. So you feel less hungry, and stay fuller for longer.

Cells in general intake more sugar so not so much gets to the "ok let's turn this sugar into fat" cells?

I actually don't know it's just a guess

wildly roundabout and permanent for anyone with a healthy pancreas, american doctors are insane. why can't we just have ampethamines and better regulated food?
