Does anyone know if updating will remove the emulators if they are already installed on the machine?

I finished setting up my deck the day before the lawsuit was announced. I should probably make a backup of my SD card where I installed everything...
Now I want to install it just because they tell me I can't.. looks like I'll skip that update
