Found the term for it after diving through a long google rabbithole:

"Rockface Bricks"

People seem to be confusing my title with wanting to find the type of stone, that isn't what I wanted

I was just looking for the name of rockface bricks before I knew they where called that

[-] Taco2112@lemmy.world 22 points 8 months ago

If you’re talking about the finish on the stone, you can try searching “quarry faced stone”, “rough faced stone”, or “split faced stone” those should help.

I think some of you are missing that regardless of whether or not this one is fake brick facing or real brick facing, he wants to know what the real bricks with that texture are called.

[-] x4740N@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago

Yes, thats exactly what I wanted

I actually found it after going down a rabbithole on Google and putting in many search terms

It is called "Rock face bricks"

[-] discozombie@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

Also "rough cut"

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 11 points 8 months ago

These are very common in central Texas. The real stuff is called "caliche" but stuff like what you posted looks more like chiseled blocks. Search for "chiseled" or "hand-chiseled".

Limestone wall.

Searched it on duckduckgo and there are a lot similar to your example picture.

"Rusticated Bricks" according to Architectural Digest. Its supposed to give a heavier, more natural look. Almost as if the structure was growing out of the ground.

Sandstone cladding wall? Or maybe sandstone facade

[-] weeabooextract@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

As the other comment said, that's a façade. It's not actual bricks, but rather pieces of stone (or, judging by the fact that these exact shapes can be found worldwide, lookalikes) that are laid onto the face of a brick/cinder block/concrete core.

"Split face" is a term I'm familiar with

[-] SirSamuel@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Same, although OP says they found them called "Stoneface bricks", which I've never heard of.

And I'm thinking of split face block, which isn't brick, but this may also be a language or regional difference

There are like 15 different answers in this thread.

[-] x4740N@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Yeah I know, I just edited the title

Only a few people gave me the correct answers

[-] BilboBargains@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Try searching for blocks o' stone

[-] Drusas@kbin.social -5 points 8 months ago

I've never even heard of or seen a "smooth" brick.

[-] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 12 points 8 months ago

They're literally everywhere but okay

[-] Drusas@kbin.social 4 points 8 months ago

Those do not look like they would feel smooth.

[-] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

It's a matter of comparison.

Like sandpaper grit. You wouldn't call sandpaper smooth but you can say one grit is smoother than the other. Ergo, smooth brick.

[-] derpgon@programming.dev 2 points 8 months ago

Those are just "bricks", and I'd put them in the "smooth" category.

[-] x4740N@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

That's what I was talking about when I was referring to smooth bricks

It's even worser when it's those smoothly polished ones

Smooth bricks make buildings look ugly in my opinion because smooth bricks make everything look flat and boxy while Rock face bricks give a building definition and contrast
