Just the requirement of requiring Instagram to sign up for threads and use of their app with so many permissions should be enough of a red flag for those unaware of meta's history.
The old Facebook app was the first one to convince my phone listens in on my conversations. I haven't touched anything Facebook since 2013.
From what I've seen, threads is Instagram. Of course they require it.
And some people want to federate with them. oof
I think it's the impulse to have the Frediverse grow, but it's a bit of a Trojan horse innit?

Not trying to tell any other instance who they should or shouldn't federate with, but just saying that they're way worse than your votes being visible in the API.
