Sometimes I find it helpful to change the post display style per community. E.g. compact for information driven content and large for photo driven communities.

At the moment users need to go into the Settings to change it. Other apps put it into the navigation bar. Have you thought about doing something like this?

This is something I’d been planning to do and it was pushed off while updating support for Lemmy v0.19.x. I had been planning to implement more post feed customization options, with finer control over the cell layout and improved compact mode. I should hopefully have these options added in the next release. I should have the next update out soon, as I’m aiming to release on the AppStore within the next 2 or so weeks.

I included this in v0.3.1 which I released last night. You can switch the post layout using the (…) menu in the navigation bar. I’ll be updating the compact layout in the next update as well.

Currently, this does not change the preferred post layout you select in settings, it will only change the layout for the view you change it on. I may add a setting so you can choose if you want the change to apply globally.

Thank you. I was happy to see this in the release notes! Your idea regarding the global setting sounds good too!
