In the future, Activision will have completely taken over the bail bond industry.

The minimum speed increase of the jail timer is 0.25% which is 1000 gems.

The bail system was what inspired them in the first place

Do you guys not have counsel?

Yeah, that’s not really what bail is and this will confuse people who don’t know.

Paying bail money doesn’t reduce time off your sentence, it makes it to where you don’t have to spend the duration of your trial in jail. After the trial, you’ll still have to spend the same amount of time in jail as you would have if you paid bail or not. Also, you get back your bail money at the end of trial as long as you don’t flee.

In fairness, this tweet doesn't say it reduces the sentence, only that it reduces the jail timer, which is accurate–being able to pay bail means you get less time in jail

If you're found not guilty you get less time in jail, yes. But if you're found guilty, often times the time you spent in jail during the trial will count as time served towards your sentence. Otherwise you still have to serve the full sentence.

Prison is not jail. Jail time is reduced, prison time is not.

I thought you just paid $50 if you didn't want to wait until you rolled doubles.

Which is really only a good play early game. Once the board is bought up, you want to spend as much time as possible in jail: you keep collecting rent from everyone else, but don't have to pay any yourself.

Anyone seen the time dilation prison sentence “holiday special” from black mirror? I think about it all the time.

This is Lemmy. Everyone's point of reference is DS9's "Hard Time."

I think about it all the time.

That's why I had to stop watching the show. 😶

It was actually the first episode I had ever seen, from the original British show. I was tripping on acid in Buenos Aires and it came on…I’m pretty sure I only caught the end of that one, but then they had a marathon of the rest of them. I have no idea what made us think this was a good idea of something to do while tripping, but we stayed up until like 5am watching them all.
