My wife and I are not good with holding back presents. Or keeping secrets about presents. So here's my Christmas Present early. I think they are so pretty!

This post is for casual conversation if you don’t feel like making a post of your own.

Those mushroom jars are the cutest!

I'm so tired today.

Friday was a Halloween party ithat none of the polycule wanted to go to but due to some miscommunication we were kind of obligated to. Ended up being a pretty decent chill time, not too bad.

Halloween was hectic. I was running around trying to make dinner and set things up for trick-or-treating. My plan of showing Over the Garden Wall on our projector outside was foiled by it not being dark enough. My polycule went to a rave after, then came back a few hours later and complained about how lame it was.

Then Sunday we went out to dinner for my GF's birthday. A restaurant in a claustrophobic, dense, expensive part of town. Then to a bar after of course, and I hate bars. And we Uber'd both ways, which i also hate. Some polycule drama happened. My wife got too drunk and cried in the bar over some stuff with our gf. I tried to talk with my bf about music, but he was also pretty drunk and felt like I was attacking him because there's a couple bands he likes that I dont, and that I like that he doesn't. I stayed calm and tried to deescalate while he went from upset to shut down. The rest of the evening was awkward.

I spent pretty much all night replaying the conversations over in my head. Where did I go wrong to have such a disastrous outcome? Is there anything I need to apologize for? The chat has been fairly cold this morning. I already would havebeen too drained to talk much just from spending the whole weekend doing social things, but now I'm sleep deprived and ruminating. I've barely done anything at work today.

And I have a doctor's appointment that I booked a few weeks ago, hopefully this will be my new PCP. I know i'm going to be just fine: I will put on the mask and say the things i need to say, hopefully this guy isn't a nut case like the last one. But it's just one more thing.

I'm hoping I can shut down tonight.

I love the colour!

So the concert was a experience. I’m still not sure if I’m glad I went or if I regret it, but I tend more toward the regret side.
3 hours of near constant pain, the place was significantly more crowded than anyone expected. So this 190kg behemoth had to just stand there in the most uncomfortable shoes known to man.
And the music quite often hit notes that really hurt in my head because they resonate.

Halloween we also got unexpectedly a pair of kids to show up, so we dumped a whole lot of candy on them XD
Was def worth it hauling out the deco for that.

Damn is that cast iron??

The platelet donation went well! I should get my A1C results at...some point. I haven't actually done the screening through a red cross promotion before.

A relative wants a stuffy that's essentially a squishmallow for christmas. So I made and tested a squishmallow sewing pattern over the weekend. Now I need to make the actual stuffy.

Yes, enameled cast iron.

That looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

Same. As soon as I buy something for someone, I want them to have it. And then there's a month of horrible uncertainty where I overthink whether they'll like it, whether it was enough, and (in the case of people I'm not close with) whether I've already given them one.

Japanese chef guy is two for two; I made his mushroom recipe and they turned out exactly like the video. I'm neurotic when I cook, and seeing every step laid out with all the mistakes I could be making is really helpful. I grilled some overengineered hamburgers and made mushroom Swiss burgers with them, which turned out to be the best hamburgers I've ever made. So gg, strange masked internet chef. I think I'll try his shrimp next.

Love the photos!

I'm disassembling one joint of a clarinet today. We'll see how it goes.

One of my best Christmas presents ever was when my partner bought me one of these, so you and yours definitely made a good decision by opening them early!

Still tired. Like always now. Yesterday the chores were all done which was good. Today I need to take out four bulk trash items and the trash and hope they take it tomorrow.

I am now enraged about cat litter boxes and want to shriek again.

[–] Lexam@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

Litter boxes make me want to shriek on a regular basis.

Nice! What will you make first?

[–] Lexam@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Going to make a really nice pot roast. I may have to invite some friends over.

[–] CallMeAl@piefed.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I love a good pot roast. Want to share your recipe?

[–] Lexam@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I have a one that I use for my Instant Pot. But I think I'm going to try this one.

Looks like a classic pot roast recipe. I'm sure it will be delicious :)

Ooo. They are very pretty. Play was good. Musical was great. I cried 3 times. Party didn't kill me. Overall very busy weekend.

Those are gorgeous!

[–] TabbsTheBat@pawb.social 5 points 10 hours ago

It's a holiday today :3 so that's nice

Other than that I've not done much, except for being a nerd about video game controls lol

[–] Varesti@lemmy.zip 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

My mother had that big mushroom jar. She used to put cookies in it, until I broke it. 😆☹️

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago

I grew up with them, too. Flour in the big one, sugar in the middle one. They disappeared when the kitchen got a 'contemporary' renovation.

Cookies had to be sealed in tupperware, so they wouldn't dry out.

[–] Enkrod@feddit.org 4 points 10 hours ago

Man, those things are great, I have had sooooo much fun with one of these and the meal always comes out great! I hope you have as much fun with those as I do!

I too am absolutely delighted with my decisions in terms of cookware lately. Two cast iron dutch ovens, one enameled, one not, a cast iron pan, a carbon steel pan and three stainless pots, one big enough to boil a whole chicken for soup...

This entire photo is just full of lovely.
